Your ultimate guide to Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright's Endgame Dawn Breaks. Learn strategies to defeat Garon, the Blight Dragon, and overcome the final challenges.

Alright, you've made it to the endgame! This is it, the final push in Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright. It's called 'Endgame Dawn Breaks,' and trust me, it feels like a dawn after a long, dark night of battles. You'll jump right into the thick of it, no saving beforehand, so make sure your units are ready.

Walkthrough:

You'll begin right in the middle of the map, with Garon, the Blight Dragon, waiting up north. Be warned, you're surrounded by some seriously tough enemies – think Wyvern Lords, Faceless, Malig Knights, and more. It's a chaotic start, but don't panic!

Garon has four Dragon Veins around him that will blight sections of the map, healing him each turn and damaging your units on those tiles. Luckily, Azura's influence gives you a few turns before he starts activating them, so use this time wisely to thin out the initial crowd. Keep an eye out for Sigils on the map too; these will summon more enemies, so a full map sweep isn't the best strategy here since nothing really carries over.

  1. Starting Position: You're in the center of the Throne Room map. Enemies are all around you. Garon, the Blight Dragon, is to the north.
  2. Initial Breakout: Your first move should be to head southeast. There's a lone Hero there. Taking them out positions you to deal with a Bow Knight nearby. If you kept your flying units safe, this Bow Knight shouldn't be too much of a threat.
  3. Pushing North: After clearing those initial units, start moving north. Use a high-Defense unit to draw out the Stoneborn and another Hero. There are more enemies further north, but they're mostly physical attackers. Luring them out one or two at a time over a couple of turns will keep things manageable.
  4. Flank Protection: As you advance, faster units like a Malig Knight, Dark Knight, and Wyvern Lord will likely pursue you. Make sure to guard your flanks to avoid getting overwhelmed.
  5. Clearing the East: Work your way through the eastern half of the map. This is important because Garon will eventually activate the southwestern Dragon Vein, blighting that area. While it doesn't affect you directly right now, clearing the east gets you closer to Garon.
  6. Dealing with Garon's Guards: Once the lesser foes are dealt with, you'll be in striking range of Garon. His General guardian will likely move towards you. Be careful of the General's Brave Spear, which attacks twice! Lure the General to your main group.
  7. Engaging Garon: After the General is dealt with, mass your high-Defense units within Garon's range and rush him. As a dragon, he has more HP, slightly lower Attack and range, and slightly better defenses than his human form. He also halves damage from most standard weapons and won't take damage from offensive skills like Astra or Lethality. Focus on tag-team attacks with adjacent pairings to maximize your damage output.

Tips:

  • Don't worry too much about clearing every single enemy or exploring every corner; the map doesn't save progress in terms of units or levels. Focus on the objective.
  • Prioritize units with high Defense to tank hits, especially when luring out groups of enemies.
  • Keep an eye on the turn count; Garon will start activating Dragon Veins around turn four, so don't dawdle too long.
  • Utilize pair-up mechanics to boost your damage against Garon, especially since he resists many skills.

Reward:

After you defeat Garon and the credits roll, you'll be returned to your save file before Chapter 27. The good news is you can buy up to five units from the Einherjar Shop in future playthroughs. The bad news? Any level-ups or experience gained in this final battle won't carry over. You can replay Chapter 27 through to the Endgame as many times as you like.
