Your Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright walkthrough for Chapter 22, Hidden Capital. Learn enemy placements, item locations, and strategies to defeat Shura and his forces.
Alright, welcome to Chapter 22 of Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright! This one's called 'Hidden Capital,' and it's a bit of a step back in difficulty from some of the previous maps, but don't get too comfortable. We've got some tricky enemy placements and a few powerful units to watch out for.
Walkthrough
- 1You'll start in the Streets of Nohr. The objective here is to defeat the boss, Shura.
- 2This map doesn't have any hostile terrain effects, which is nice! However, there are some dangerous siege weapons: two Ballistae up north, and a Launcher and a Fire Orb to the south. Characters good with bows can use the Ballistae, shuriken users can man the Launchers, and scroll users can operate the Fire Orbs.
- 3The enemy has a bunch of weaker, unpromoted units like Dark Mages, Fighters, and Outlaws scattered around. Think of them as cannon fodder for your units and a good way to draw enemy fire.
- 4Don't underestimate the promoted enemies, though. You'll face Sorcerers, Berserkers, Maids, and Adventurers. The Berserkers are particularly nasty with high Attack and HP, plus a scary Critical hit rate. Their defenses and Hit rate aren't great, so try to take them out from a distance if you can.
- 5The boss, Shura, starts with a stat boost for the first seven turns, making him a bit tougher. After that, he becomes less of a threat.
- 6The southern part of the map is lighter on enemies, mostly magic-users. The north has a more varied and dangerous group.
- 7Loot Alert! Keep an eye out for these items:
- A Dark Mage in the south-center drops a Dragon Spirit scroll.
- 8A nearby Maid drops a Bloom Festal.
- 9An Adventurer west of the central plaza has 5000G.
- 10A Berserker to the east drops a Dracoshield (permanently increases Defense by 2).
- 11A weak Outlaw has an extra 3000G.
- 12Up north, a Maid has a Silver Shuriken, and another Berserker has a Venge Club.
- 13The Dragon Veins are located near the center of the map. Activating them heals all units in a wide area, but be careful – they heal enemies too! Use them strategically.
- 14To start, focus on taking out the Maid and magic-users to the south quickly.
- 15Then, use a high-Evade unit to lure the three Maids from the north into attack range.
- 16The Berserkers and magic-users in the corners will likely move in, but the magic-users aren't your top priority right now.
- 17Focus on eliminating the Berserkers, ideally from range, and always keep an eye on the movement range of other nearby Berserkers.
- 18After dealing with the initial threats, repeat the process for the remaining Berserkers and Fighters. Watch out for units coming around the buildings on the map's edge.
- 19Don't forget about the south! More Maids will arrive, so leave some strong units behind to handle them. They'll be followed by more Dark Mages and Maids, making the south a decent spot for grinding levels if you need it.
- 20You can ignore the southern reinforcements once you're out of range of their turrets.
- 21As you advance towards the boss and his northern forces, try to use a checkerboard formation. This helps avoid splash damage from any lingering threats.
- 22Keep flying units back until the Adventurers are dealt with, as they can use the Ballistae to inflict heavy damage on fliers.
- 23The northern forces will also get reinforcements, but they're a one-time deal, unlike the endless stream in the south.
- 24After you've cleared out the enemies, Ryoma will have a thought, and Azura will have an even better one. The leader of the brigands, Shura, will reveal a surprising connection to the royal families.
- 25Shura will then permanently join your party! He's an Adventurer, meaning he can use both bows and staves, making him a very versatile unit.
Tips
- Pay close attention to the Berserkers' movement and attack ranges. They hit hard, so try to engage them with units that can take a hit or take them out from afar.
- Use your siege weapons! They can be very effective against the enemy, especially if you have units proficient in the required weapon types.
- Be cautious with the Dragon Veins. While they can heal your units, they'll also heal the enemy, so timing is crucial.
- The southern part of the map can be a good place to rack up experience points if you're careful, thanks to the constant stream of reinforcements.
- Shura is a great addition to your team. His ability to use both bows and staves makes him incredibly useful in many situations.
- Shura joins your party.
- Experience and Gold from defeated enemies.
- Various items dropped by enemies (Dragon Spirit, Bloom Festal, 5000G, Dracoshield, 3000G, Silver Shuriken, Venge Club).
