Alright, so you've made it to Rivera Towers in Chapter 7 of Final Fantasy XIII. Get ready, because you're about to face off against the Ushumgal Subjugator. Don't let its name intimidate you; we'll get you through this!

• Ushumgal Subjugator — LV 57 / 126,000 HP
• Strength / Magic: 171 STR / 0 MAG
• Stagger / Chain Resistance / CP: 150% / 95 Chain Resistance / 960 CP
• Vulnerabilities: Lightning (Weak)
• Drops: Abominable Wing (100%)

Phases:

1. Phase 1: Aerial Assault

   The Ushumgal Subjugator stays in the air for the whole fight, mostly using its Napalm attack, which is Fire-based. The good news? Hope's Barfire ability is perfect for neutralizing this. Make sure he casts it on both characters early on. Also, keep an eye on your HP; its Tail Hammer attack can deal significant damage, so try not to let your health drop below 400.

2. Phase 2: Stagger and Finish

   Once you've landed a Stagger, the boss becomes more vulnerable. It'll gain Bravery, but its chain resistance drops, and it'll be more susceptible to staggering. You'll likely need one or two successful Staggers to take it down. Don't forget to use the ATB Refresh trick: after you've used all your attacks in a paradigm, immediately switch to another one. This refills your ATB gauge instantly, letting you chain attacks like crazy. Just remember, you can only do this every other paradigm switch, so use it wisely!

Strategy:

• Start the battle by waiting for Hope to cast Barfire and Protect on both characters.
• Switch to a setup like 'Combat/Ravager' (or whatever your preferred attack paradigm is), launch your attacks, and then immediately switch to another setup (like 'Ravager/Ravager') to launch another round of attacks. This is the ATB Refresh trick in action.
• Alternate between these setups until the boss powers up.
• When it powers up, it'll gain Bravery but also become easier to Stagger. Keep up the pressure!
• Watch your HP closely and heal if it drops below 400.
• Aim for one or two Staggers to defeat the Ushumgal Subjugator.
• After the battle, you might get a Deceptisol, so keep an eye out for that!
