Fury Mode Explained in Dead Island 2

Fury Mode is a powerful transformation in Dead Island 2 that you'll unlock during the story quest The Red Mist. After your first story-mandated use, you can enter Fury Mode at will whenever your Fury Meter is full.

To enter Fury Mode, press the L3 + R3 buttons (or their equivalents on your platform) when your Fury Meter is full. You primarily build Fury by killing zombies and performing Counter Attacks. Certain Skill Cards can alter how you generate Fury:

• Blood Rush: Build Fury by slaying zombies and performing Counter Attacks.
• Served Cold: Build Fury by blocking attacks or taking damage from zombies.
• Street Brawler: Build Fury by damaging zombies with melee attacks or weapon throws. Your Fury Meter will slowly drain if not full.
• Surgical Focus: Build Fury by maiming zombies. Taking damage will drain Fury.

While in Fury Mode, you gain several advantages:

• Nearby enemies are knocked back.
• A moderate Health boost upon entering Fury Mode.
• Minor Health recovery with each enemy strike.
• Increased Damage and Force.

Fury Mode makes you a more durable combatant, but you are not invincible. Your Fury Meter depletes while in Fury Mode, and each attack consumes Fury. You will exit Fury Mode when the meter is empty, or you can exit early by pressing L3 + R3 again (with an added Fury cost). It's a useful desperation move or a quick way to deal with troublesome enemies.

Fury Special Skills

In Fury Mode, you can use Fury Special Attacks that mimic Apex zombie abilities. The equipped Skill Card determines the attack:

• Overhead Smash: Press Square / X in Fury Mode for a powerful ground smash.
• Scream: Press Square / X in Fury Mode to emit a wail that weakens nearby zombies.
• Spitting Cobra: Hold Square / X in Fury Mode to vomit caustic bile.

Fury Mode Build Tips

While Fury Mode is often a supplemental ability, certain builds can utilize it more frequently. Maiming Builds, using Maiming Weapons (like katanas) with high Critical and Limb Damage, combined with the Surgical Focus Skill Card, can recharge Fury rapidly by maiming zombie limbs. Taking damage is a trade-off, but the Fury gained from maiming is significant.

Consider these Skill Cards for enhanced Fury builds:

• Ravenous: Replenish Fury by slaying zombies in Fury Mode to extend its duration.
• Short Fuse: Unleash Fury Mode anytime when your Fury Meter is more than half full.
• Janus Rage: Provides a moderate Toughness boost when Fury Meter is full, and a minor Damage boost when not full.
