How to Cook Poffins

Learn how to unlock and cook Poffins in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Discover Berry types, flavors, and how to raise your Pokemon's condition for Super Contest Shows.

Poffins are a special treat in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl that can be fed to your Pokémon to raise their condition in Beauty, Cool, Cute, Smart, and Tough. The flavor of a Poffin depends on the Berries used, which in turn corresponds to a specific condition:

• Dry flavor raises Beauty.
• Spicy flavor raises Cool.
• Sweet flavor raises Cute.
• Bitter flavor raises Smart.
• Sour flavor raises Tough.

To unlock the ability to cook Poffins, you must first find the Pokémon Fan Club in Hearthome City, located to the right of the Poké Mart. Speak to the man inside, and he will give you the essential Poffin Case.

Once you have the Poffin Case, head to the house to the left of the Poké Mart in Hearthome City to begin cooking. The Poffin cooking minigame is split into three stages. You'll need to move the joystick in the direction of the arrows shown on screen. Initially, the batter is thin and spills easily, requiring gentle stirring. As the stages progress, the batter thickens, demanding harder and faster stirring. With practice, you'll master the minigame.

To create the best Poffins, use berries of the same flavor, but avoid using four of the exact same Berry, as this results in a Foul Poffin. It's recommended to use at least one unique Berry with three others. The resulting Poffin will boost your Pokémon's condition based on the flavor used.

Berry Flavors and Required Berries:

• Dry: Oran, Chesto, Wiki, Pamtre, Charti, and Micle Berries.
• Spicy: Leppa, Cheri, Pinap, Figy, Tanga, and Enigma Berries.
• Sweet: Persim, Pecah, Bluk, Kasib, Mago, and Custap Berries.
• Bitter: Rawst, Lum, Nabnab, Aguav, Haban, and Jaboca Berries.
• Sour: Sitrus, Lapapa, Aspear, Wepear, Colbur, and Rowap Berries.

For high-level Poffins, you must cook inside Amity Square, using Berries with strong tastes and excelling at the minigame.

You can feed Poffins to your Pokémon from the item menu. Be aware that certain Pokémon natures may react differently to specific flavors. Understanding your Pokémon's nature and its preference for certain flavors can significantly improve your Poffin-feeding strategy.
