How to Locate & Use HM Defog (TM97)

Alright, so you've run into one of those annoying foggy areas in Sinnoh, huh? Don't worry, it's super common! You're gonna need HM Defog for this. It's actually TM97, and it's a real lifesaver for clearing up those misty paths. Let's figure out where to grab it and how to use it.

How to Get Defog (TM97):

1. First things first, you need to head to Pastoria City.
2. Once you're in Pastoria City, make your way to the Great Marsh. It's basically the big Safari Zone area there.
3. As soon as you enter the Great Marsh, look for a woman standing to your right. She's the one who will give you TM97 Defog.
4. Important Note: You can only receive this TM and use Defog outside of battle once you've earned the Fen Badge. So, make sure you've beaten the Pastoria City Gym Leader!

How to Use Defog:

Using Defog is pretty straightforward once you know how. It's all done through your Pokétch:

1. Open up your Pokétch.
2. Press the R button to zoom in on the screen.
3. You'll see a big red button on the right side of the zoomed-in screen. Use the Left Stick to move your cursor over it.
4. Press the A button while your cursor is on the red button. This will cycle through the apps on your Pokétch until you get to the Hidden Moves app. (Alternatively, you can just click the Right Stick inwards to cycle through the apps.)
5. Once you're on the Hidden Moves app, make sure your cursor is hovering over Defog.
6. Press the A button again to activate Defog and clear the area!

You'll know you're in a foggy area because, well, you can barely see anything! Defog is essential for navigating these parts of the game.

Notable Locations Where You Can Use Defog:

• The north side of Route 210: This is a big one, as the fog here blocks the path to Celestic Town.
• Getting to Snowpoint City from Mt. Coronet: There are foggy sections in Mt. Coronet that Defog will clear.
• Reaching Route 224 after the Hall of Fame: You'll need to clear some fog to access this post-game area.
