Learn how to breed Pokémon in pokemon brilliant diamond and shining pearl at the Solaceon Town Nursery for 500 Poké Dollars per Pokémon. Discover egg inheritance rules.

  • Access to Solaceon Town.
  • At least 500 Poké Dollars per Pokémon to leave at the nursery.
  • Space in your party for a Pokémon Egg.
Walkthrough
  1. 1
Travel to Solaceon Town and locate the Pokémon Nursery.
  2. 2
Speak to the nursery worker and choose up to two Pokémon to leave in their care. This costs 500 Poké Dollars per Pokémon.
  3. 3
The Pokémon will breed if they are capable of breeding, are of opposite genders (or one is Ditto), and belong to compatible egg groups. Note that Legendary Pokémon, baby Pokémon, and two Ditto cannot breed.
  4. 4
Run or bike around the game world. An old man standing outside the nursery will eventually indicate if a Pokémon Egg is ready.
  5. 5
Speak to the old man and select "yes" to receive the Pokémon Egg. If your party is full, it will be sent to a Pokémon Box.
  6. 6
Keep the egg in your party and continue to travel. After a specific number of steps, the egg will hatch into a Level 1 Pokémon.
Tips
  • To increase the rate of obtaining eggs, breed two Pokémon of the same species or Pokémon with different Trainer ID numbers.
  • The Oval Charm, obtained in the postgame by defeating Morimoto on Route 213, further increases the rate of getting eggs.
  • If one parent holds an Everstone, the hatched Pokémon will inherit that parent's Nature 100% of the time.
  • If one parent holds a Destiny Knot, the hatched Pokémon will inherit 5 IVs from the parents (instead of the usual 3).
  • If a parent is holding an Incense item, the hatched Pokémon will be the unevolved form of that species.
  • The hatched Pokémon inherits the Poké Ball of the non-Ditto parent (or a 50/50 chance if both parents have different balls). Master and Cherish Balls cannot be passed down.
  • The hatched Pokémon will be the same species as the female parent (or the male if bred with Ditto), but in its unevolved form.
  • There is a 60% chance the hatched Pokémon will inherit the female parent's Ability (or the male's if bred with Ditto), including Hidden Abilities. Otherwise, it will have one of its standard Abilities.
  • Moves that parents have which the child cannot learn by leveling up, known as Egg Moves, can be inherited if both parents know them.
  • Shininess, TMs learned, EVs, and Hyper Trained IVs are not passed down through breeding.
  • A Pokémon Egg, which hatches into a Level 1 Pokémon.
  • Inherited Nature, Ability, Egg Moves, IVs, and Poké Ball from parents.
