So, you've made your way to Brightmarket! Think of it as a smaller, more laid-back cousin to Meridian, nestled on the southeastern shore of the Daybrink. It's a key trading spot, especially for the Carja, and it even supplies Meridian's aqueduct. You'll notice the architecture is a bit simpler here, and people are generally more open to chatting with everyone, regardless of their status. It's a nice change of pace! Brightmarket has a pretty interesting history. It was once a northern border settlement for the Carja, established way back during Sun-King Sadahin's rule. As the Sundom expanded and started trading more with other tribes, especially the Oseram from the Claim upriver, Brightmarket became a bustling trade hub. However, during the Carja Civil War, things got quiet again, and it found itself on the border once more, this time with the Shadow Carja on the other side of the Daybrink. In _Horizon Zero Dawn_, you'll actually visit Brightmarket for a couple of reasons. You might meet Gulahni, a fruit stall vendor who's having trouble with a thief. If you help her out, you'll track down the culprit, Dekamin. Don't worry, he's not a bad guy, just made a mistake. He ends up making amends by helping out the local sellers and Gulahni's stall in exchange for food. It's a nice little side story showing how people can make things right. You'll also find the smuggler Gavan here, trying to find a way across the Daybrink after escaping Sunstone Rock. And remember when Aloy helped Itamen and Nasadi escape Sunfall? They were brought to Brightmarket by Aloy, Vanasha, and Three-Toe Huadiv before being taken to Meridian by Avad. It's a place where important events happen, even if it seems quiet at first glance. After the Battle of the Alight and the Sundom's reunification, Brightmarket lost its border status again, becoming just another part of the unified realm. Keep an eye out for Dekamin and Elida when you're around; they're some of the notable folks you might encounter.
