Sun and Shadow

Speak with Lahavis, a Carja noble, in Brightmarket, northwest of Meridian. He is searching for his daughter.

Go east off the bridge and north across another bridge to find the garden.

Ascend the stairs past some guards to reach the garden.

Use your Focus to identify three points of interest: a bottle, a shovel, and a spyglass.

Examine each object. Examining the shovel will advance the quest.

Use your Focus to find a trail leading out of the village to the northeast, towards a boathouse.

Investigate the boathouse. Examine the rope at the end of the dock.

Dive into the water and swim west/northwest to the island with the marker.

Arrive on the southeastern side of the island and follow the coast towards the center to find a boat and a Snapmaw.

To defeat the Snapmaw, shoot Blaze Canisters with Precision or Hardpoint Arrows if they are covered, then use fire arrows on the canisters. Stay at a safe distance to avoid explosion damage.

After defeating the Snapmaw, go to the small camp and speak with Elida on top of the rock.

Talk to Elida again. She explains that a boy named Atral was supposed to meet her but hasn't arrived. She asks you to find him.

Swim west from the island and look for a smoke signal on the shoreline.

Upon arrival, you will find evidence of a struggle. Use your Focus to find a trail leading up to a small fort with human enemies.

Approach the fort and listen for Atral screaming for help.

To infiltrate the fort: You can go through the front gate using stealth, utilizing the tall grass. Alternatively, go around the fort and look for footholds to climb to the top. Tag all enemies inside before climbing.

If using the back-door approach, once on top, wait for the patrolling guard to turn away before performing a stealth kill on the guard near where you emerged.

Wait for the patrolling guard to spot the body and hide, then stealth kill him.

Ignore the two enemies together at the top. Stealth kill the remaining guard by himself.

Find the door and descend the stairs.

Be aware of one more enemy at the bottom of the second set of stairs.

Meet up with Atral. He will give you an item to deliver to Elida and then die.

Return to Elida, who will now be in Brightmarket.

Speak with Elida, then with Lahavis to complete the quest.
