Complete the 'Out of the Forge' errand in Horizon Zero Dawn by hunting down five Daemonic Fireclaws. This guide details their locations, strategies, and rewards.
Walkthrough
- 1The first Fireclaw is located south of the Cut, just above Song’s Edge, near a campfire and accompanied by a Scrapper.
- 2The second Fireclaw is southwest on the map, surrounded by three campfires and three Daemonic Tramplers. A Scorcher site is to its right, but should not be alerted if you stay clear. Fast travel to the southern-most campfire here to find small ruins containing Animal Figurine 3 in an empty window.
- 3The third Fireclaw site is north, on the right side of the map, in a small valley with hot springs. This area is inhabited by two Fireclaws and Fire Bellowbacks circling a control tower. Aratak will join you for this fight.
- 4The fourth Fireclaw is in the far north, just below the Drone Hangar. A campfire is approximately 200 feet below it. This Fireclaw is accompanied by a Ravager.
- 5After defeating the final Fireclaw, return to Song’s Edge to speak with Naltuk, Ourea’s apprentice.
Tips
- Upgrading the Icerail weapon with Varga in Longnotch can be very helpful, especially if you don't mind getting close.
- The waypoints for the Fireclaws will appear on the map. You can also activate the errand from the quest menu to highlight them.
- The order in which you hunt the Fireclaws is up to you.
- For the second Fireclaw, spawning at the southern-most campfire allows you to use an incline as defense.
- For the third Fireclaw site, try to avoid the attention of the Fire Bellowbacks. Aratak's presence will help distract the Fireclaws, allowing you to focus on them one at a time.
- For the final Fireclaw, you can blast off the Ravager’s cannon and use it against either the Ravager or the Fireclaw.
- A recommended weapon combination for defeating Fireclaws includes the Shadow Blast Sling's sticky bombs and the upgraded Icerail. Maintain a distance, aim carefully, and avoid the Fireclaw's lava attack. Use freeze bombs from the Shadow Sling and Hardpoint Arrows to its armor. Sticky bombs can also stun the machine.
- This method is effective as it bypasses the time-consuming process of removing all the machine's armor before targeting weak points.
