The Blue Orb

Find the Blue Orb in dragon quest xi echoes of an elusive age definitive edition's frozen Sniflheim. Collect Magic Beast Hide, Seed of Deftness, and Permasnow.

As you disembark from the ship in Sniflheim, the Rainbough will glow, indicating the final Orb is here. Head towards the city entrance; the doors are frozen shut. Before going around back, search the east side of the pier for a pair of barrels; one contains a Magic Beast Hide.

Head around to the west and rest at the Camp. You can forge new equipment using Recipes from your travels. Consider the Hocus Locus Heavy Wand and Princess’s Robe for Veronica, and the Spryggdrasil Wand for Serena if she is dual-wielding wands. Silkblossoms can be purchased from the merchant at the Camp.

Continue around the back to find a Magic Key Door. Unlocking it reveals the city is frozen. Behind the tree to your immediate left is a Sparkly Spot containing Permasnow. Head south to the first market stall and smash the pots for another Magic Beast Hide. To the west of the first house left of the main entrance, a barrel hides a Seed of Deftness. In the far northeastern corner, smash pots along the wall for more Permasnow.

Speak to the only unfrozen person, the Queen of Sniflheim, to learn that you must defeat the Witch in Hekswood to obtain the Blue Orb. Exit Sniflheim via the eastern gate.

Sniflheim Region Items:

• Mini Medal: In a chest in a small cabin northwest of the City.
• Seed of Sorcery: In a chest southeast of the City.

Sniflheim Region Sparkly Spots:

• North: Two Platinum Ores and Silver Ore.
• North of the Snaerfelt entrance: Permasnow.
• South: Avabranche, Permasnow, and Sparkly Sap.
• Southwest: Two Silkblossom and Glimmergrass.

Your destination is through the Snaerfelt to the east. Before proceeding, consider your characters' progression in their Character Builders. For the Hero, if using Greatswords, unlock Frost Fangs, Counter When Blocking/Parrying, and Unbridled Blade, followed by Strength +25 and Gigasmash nodes. For Erik, unlock Dodgy Character and aim for Divide in the Guile tree, then pick up Cobra Strike and Victimiser from the Knives tree. Veronica should have the Vim tree maxed and focus on the Heavy Wands tree. Serena should finish her Wands tree and start Harpistry skills. For Sylvando, unlock Hustle Dance, Charm +40, and Have a Ball. Jade should have Multithrust and work on Lightning Thrust for metal enemies. Rab should have Zing Stick and focus on passive skills in the Heavy Wands tree.
