Master the Fun Sized Forge in dragon quest xi echoes of an elusive age definitive edition. Learn about Bash, Focus, and Flourishes to craft +3 items.
- Hero must be at least Level 10 to unlock the first Flourish.
- Hero's actual level increases the amount of Focus points available.
Walkthrough
- 1Enter the forging process by choosing to craft or rework an item.
- 2You will see a glob of metal with different spots to strike. Each spot has a gauge with a green range and a notch.
- 3Select the Bash option from the menu to strike a spot. A meter will fill the gauge.
- 4Aim to land the meter within the green section, or ideally on the notch, which turns the meter yellow for a perfect forge on that section.
- 5Each Bash uses 5 Focus points. If you run out of Focus, you must finish the current forging session. Failing a session results in receiving only the base item with no bonuses.
- 6Successfully forging items can grant a +1, +2, or +3 bonus to stats.
- 7If you fail at the minigame, you will always receive the base equipment.
- 8If reworking an item and you fail, you will receive the item at its previous value (e.g., +1 will remain +1).
- 9Finishing all gauges in the green always grants a +1 bonus.
- 10To achieve a +3 bonus when starting an item from scratch, at least half of the gauges must be yellow.
- 11Use the Appraise option to check the item's bonus: “Pretty well” indicates +1, “Really well” indicates +2, and “Brilliantly” indicates +3.
Flourishes:
- Flourishes are special forging techniques that usually hit multiple sections, unlike Bash which hits only one.
- You unlock Flourishes by leveling up your main character. The first is unlocked at Level 10.
- Flourishes use more Focus than a standard Bash.
- At Level 55, you will learn Hephaestus’ Flame. This is not a usable Flourish but occurs randomly once per forging session.
- When Hephaestus’ Flame appears, your next hit (Bash or Flourish) will be a critical hit that stops when it hits the notch on the gauge.
- Use Hephaestus’ Flame when one or more sections are close to the notch to make hitting it easier and increase your chances of getting a +3 quality item.
Flourish List:
- Double-Edged Bash (Level 10, 8 Focus): A strong vertical strike over two squares.
- Lightening Bash (Level 12, 10 Focus): Strike a single square at half strength.
- Double Whammy (Level 17, 8 Focus): A double-strength strike on a single square.
- Sizzly Puff (Level 23, 10 Focus): Boosts temperature by 300 degrees.
- Quadrabash (Level 26, 12 Focus): A strong strike over four squares in a two-by-two pattern.
- Multibash (Level 31, 7 Focus): An extra-efficient ability that strikes four squares at random.
- Triple Whammy (Level 35, 11 Focus): A triple-strength strike on a single square.
- Crackshot Bash (Level 38, 16 Focus): A strike with an increased chance of a critical hit.
- Kaquadrabash (Level 44, 18 Focus): A double-strength strike over four squares in a two-by-two pattern.
- C-C-Cold Blow (Level 46, 12 Focus): Lowers the temperature by 300 degrees.
- Crosscutter Blow (Level 50, 7 Focus): A strong strike over two diagonal squares.
- Woosh Bang Wallop (Level 60, 15 Focus): A strong strike on a single square that also lowers the temperature by 150 degrees.
