233. Lavos Core

Guide to defeating the final boss, Lavos Core, in Chrono Trigger. Learn its stats, weaknesses, and strategies for each phase to beat the game.

Phases:

1. Part 1: The Pods
   • There are three parts: the left Pod, the center Pod, and the Core.
   • You cannot damage the right side (the Core) until the center Pod is defeated.
   • Use your party's strongest Single Techs against the center Pod.
   • The left Pod absorbs magic-based Techs; use physical attacks/Techs against it.
2. Part 2: Attacking the Core
   • After defeating either the left or middle Pod, the Core will lower its defense.
   • This is your opportunity to attack the Core with strong attacks/Techs.
3. Part 3: The Ultimate Attack
   • When all 3 Pods are present again, they will perform an ultimate attack that deals massive damage.
   • Be prepared to use Athenian Waters and a Megalixir to recover.
4. Part 4: Repeat and Finish
   • Return to the strategy of defeating the left/middle Pods.
   • Be cautious if you defeat the middle Pod and the other two are still active, as they will retaliate with a cross hit each time you attack them.
   • When the right Core's defense is lowered again, attack it with strong hits.
   • Continue these strategies until the Core and Lavos are defeated.

Strategy:

• Focus on defeating the center Pod first with strong Single Techs.
• Use physical attacks or Techs against the left Pod, as it absorbs magic.
• When a Pod is defeated, the Core's defense lowers, allowing you to attack it.
• Prepare for Lavos's ultimate attack by having Athenian Waters and Megalixirs ready.
• If the middle Pod is defeated while the other two remain, be wary of their retaliatory cross hits.
• Maintain your party's health and continue the cycle of defeating Pods and attacking the Core until victory.
