Watcher's Keep

Speak to Odren, the leader of the Vigil Knights at the foot of the Keep, and agree to help them seal an imprisoned evil being. They will transport you to the top of the keep.

If visiting in Chapter 2 for shopping, speak to Sister Garlena. Notable items include the Short Sword of Mask +4 (costly) and the Firetooth +4 crossbow. Consider purchasing the Potion Case for convenience.

Speak to Brother Pol on Level 1 to receive the Vigil Stone and Ritual Scroll needed to seal the Imprisoned One. Store these in your Bag of Holding.

Enter the room and defeat the Vampiric Wraiths, Wandering Horror, and Poison Mist.

In the large hallway, position your best fighters near the four statues closest to the altar. Take the book from the altar, which will animate the statues to attack. Disrupt the bottom right statue's casting of Creeping Doom. Loot the Foebane +3 bastard sword from a defeated statue.

Go through the locked door to the right of the altar. Remove the trap from the floor and two containers. The fireplace contains a Tinderbox and an Ammo Belt. Search the table for two Potions of Superior Healing and a Scribbled Note about using the tinderbox. The cupboard contains a Quiver of Plenty +1 and a Handwritten Note. Search the bookshelf for a Pair of Old Slippers.

Return to the large hallway and go through the door to the left of the altar. Defeat the six Mustard Jellies. Search the chest for a Candle and magical ammo (+3 arrows and bolts). Light the hearth using the Tinderbox. The ghost of Archivist Giltham will appear.

Ask Giltham about the priest; he will mention needing slippers to avoid the priest's bad temper and that ritual details are on a scroll in the library.

Return to the entrance area and go through the door on the left. Remove traps from two containers. Search the chest for Paladin Bracers (upgradeable later) and other minor loot from cupboards.

Go east, destroy the Stone Golem, and proceed north. Defeat randomised creatures like Trolls and Spirit Trolls. Search the bookshelves nearest the door for a Tattered Parchment detailing the end of the ritual.

Read Elminster's Ecologies: Appendix IIIa for tips on defeating lower-floor creatures. The next bookshelf contains another Handwritten Note. The leftmost bookshelf contains the Golem Manual (allows Flesh Golem summoning, upgradeable later). Search the chest for another Tattered Parchment detailing the second part of the ritual.

Go north, remove traps from two containers. Search the chest for the Crimson Dart +3, Bullet +3 (x10), Chain Mail +2, a Potion of Superior Healing, and the History of the Imprisoned One. Search the bookshelves for a Case of Plenty +1 and the Bell needed for the ritual. Exit through the door on the right.

You will be back near the altar. Go to the room where you found the Tinderbox and proceed south. Defeat randomised enemies like Phase Spiders and Sword Spiders. Search the shelves for a Wardstone and a Potion of Superior Healing.

Continue south and search the cupboard for the second half of the Wardstone, a Small Shield +2, and another Potion of Superior Healing. Search the bookshelf for the final Tattered Parchment detailing the first part of the ritual.

Go west, kill the Spellhaunt which seems to disappear when damaged. Search the cupboard for the Key to unlock the northeast door.

Search the table for another Handwritten note.

Backtrack to the locked northeast door and go through. Two non-hostile Guardian Golems are present.
