Guide to Trademeet in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn. Learn how to resolve the animal attacks, deal with the Dao Djinni, recruit Cernd and Rasaad, and find key items.
Walkthrough
- 1Upon arriving in Trademeet, assist the town militia against attacking wild animals. The Militia Captain will inform you that the town is unsafe.
- 2The Captain directs you to High Merchant Logan Coprith. Before going, visit the Dao Djinni Tent and speak with Khan Zahra. She explains they are hunting a rakshasa named Ihtafeer and have halted trade to pressure the townsfolk. Offer to find Ihtafeer's head.
- 3On your way out of the Djinni Tent, pickpocket Taquee for an Efreeti Bottle.
- 4Proceed through the Trademeet Market towards the Mayor's House. Note the merchant named "Merchant," who becomes a valuable trader later.
- 5Go to the Mayor's Home and speak with Guildmistress Busya (optional). Then, enter the office and talk to High Merchant Logan Coprith.
- 6Ask Logan about the animal attacks. He reveals witnesses saw druids directing them and that one druid is under arrest but claims to be investigating the druids himself. Logan asks you to speak with this druid.
- 7Go to the basement and speak with the druid, Cernd. Tell him Lord Coprith sent you. He explains the local druids severed ties with the hierarchy and offers to join your party.
- 8New Companion: Cernd - Shapeshifter, Level 10, HP 62, STR 13, INT 12, WIS 18, DEX 9, CON 13, CHA 15. Neutral Good. Proficiencies: Scimitar +, Dagger +, Quarterstaff +, Sling +. He is best acquired around level 13 for the Greater Werewolf transformation, though his class has long-term weaknesses.
- 9If you decline Cernd's offer to join, he will ask you to meet him near the Druid Grove. The Druid Grove is added to your world map.
- 10Optional: To recruit Rasaad, head to the northeast town square. You'll see him fighting Sun Soul Monks. Approach them; one will accuse Rasaad of being a traitor to the order, part of a breakaway sect.
- 11Rasaad will approach you, explaining his distrust of the Sun Soul Monks due to a new cult. He is infiltrating it to investigate the cult leader, Collus Darathon, whom he believes killed his brother Gamaz.
- 12New Companion: Rasaad - Sun Soul Monk, Level 13, HP 80, STR 16, INT 11, WIS 14, DEX 16, CON 14, CHA 14. Lawful Good. Proficiencies: Katana +, Scimitar +, Dagger +, Dart +, Sling +. His low HP makes him a defensive liability early on. Thief skills: FT: 35, MS: 55, HS: 50.
- 13You can invite Rasaad to join and then dismiss him to have him wait in town, avoiding the need to search for him later.
- 14Head to the Druid Grove on the world map.
Druid Grove Walkthrough:
- Head west and encounter two Trolls and two Ice Trolls. Remember to use fire or acid to kill them permanently. A non-hostile Druid will mention the Tethir Druids' protection.
- You'll learn Faldorn is leading the grove and is responsible for the attacks on Trademeet.
- Continue west, fighting Spiders (three small, one Giant, one Phase, one Sword).
- Reach the Troll Mound entrance, guarded by three Trolls, a Giant Troll, and a Spectral Troll. Enter to find more Trolls. Search nest litter for the Spear of the Unicorn +2, Bracers of Archery, and a Potion of Mind Focusing.
- Leave the Troll Mound and head north, then east. You'll find a party fighting Trolls. If you help them, they will attack you. Use Cloudkill or similar area-of-effect spells.
Tips
- The merchant named "Merchant" in Trademeet Market becomes one of the best traders in the game after the genie problem is resolved.

- Rasaad's Sun Soul Monk class also has early-game weaknesses in terms of HP and defensive capabilities.
- Trolls and Ice Trolls require fire or acid damage to be permanently killed.

- Spear of the Unicorn +2 (found in Troll Mound)
