Alright, let's tackle Hound Cavern! This place is tucked away in the absolute northwest corner of the desert map. Seriously, keep driving west and then north until you hit a dead end – there's a cave entrance right there in the rock wall.

    As soon as you enter the cave, head up the passageway. You'll immediately get jumped by a Bazooka Dog. These guys are pretty straightforward. They've got a shield or protection that needs one main gun hit to break, and then a second hit to actually defeat them. They can get one bazooka shot off, so be ready to take some damage.

    After that first pup, keep going into the main cave area. Another dog will charge you from the left. Take it down, then hop back in your tanks and head left and up. You'll run into a third dog. These are all the enemies on this first floor. You'll notice a lot of gated areas; if you grabbed the Lock Hacker item, you can open these, but it's not strictly necessary to beat the boss.

    Once you've cleared the first floor, find the ramp in the upper-left section of the cave and drive down to the next level. Head down the screen and then right, passing by two more gates. You'll eventually reach some wide metal steps. It's time to get out of your tanks here.

    Walk up these steps, and you'll find Bad Valdez. He'll recognize your tank, the red one that belonged to Red Wolf. After a brief scene and some dialogue (don't worry about your answers), he'll attack!

Boss Fight: Bad Valdez

  • Attacks: Recoilless missile (single target), Launching missiles wildly (AoE), Machine gun (AoE).
  • Reward: 200,000G, 8000 Experience, 1 Gold.

Strategy: The dogs aren't too tough. Just remember to hit them once to break their defense, then again to finish them off. They can fire a bazooka, so be prepared for that.

After you defeat Valdez, you'll find yourself outside the cave, and unfortunately, without your tanks. Just head back inside, go down that ramp to the first floor, and you can pick your tanks back up. If you have the Lock Hacker, now's a good time to open those gates and chat with the ladies you might have missed earlier.
