Rust Duramboros

Defeat the G-Rank Rust Duramboros in monster hunter 3 ultimate's Sandy Plains. Learn its weaknesses and how to avoid its tail attacks.

Habitat: Sandy Plains: 8, 9 (Spawn), 10, 11 (Rest)

Properties:

• Weak Spots: Broken Hump, Tail (Bullet)
• Susceptible To: Poison, Sleep, Dizzy
• Strong Against: Fire
• Weak Against: Water, Ice

Part Durability:

• Head/Horns: Very High (Lurch)
• Body: Very High (Large Lurch)
• Hump: Ultra High (Large Lurch)
• Arms: High (Lurch)
• Legs (x2): Medium (Large Lurch)
• Tail, Tail Tip: High (Large Lurch)

Breakable Parts:

• Horns, Hump: Breaking these parts grants Extra Rewards.
• Tail: Can be broken twice. The second break weakens Tail Attacks, and allows you to Mine and Carve the Tail.

Rage Effects: Attack increases to 130%, Defence increases, Speed increases to 120%.

Key Attacks:

• Spinning Top: The Rust Duramboros slams its tail into the ground and rotates, slowly chasing the hunter. It may end with a sudden stop or by launching itself towards the hunter.
• Tail Slam: The Rust Duramboros raises its tail high and slams it down, causing a tremor that staggers nearby hunters. It may step forward before the slam.
• Charge: The Rust Duramboros lowers its head and charges towards the hunter.
• Flip Slam: The Rust Duramboros launches itself into the air and crashes down, dealing huge damage underneath.
• Launch: The Rust Duramboros throws its tail forward, dragging its body through the air towards a distant hunter.

Recommended Strategy:

Stay away from the Rust Duramboros' massive tail, as it inflicts the Muddy status in addition to damage. Avoid its attempts to get its tail above you by standing around its feet, where you will be largely safe, even during the Spinning Top attack.

The best way to deal damage is to target its humps. Expose the red core on its humps by dealing enough damage to its back to enhance damage further. The humps are vulnerable during a Pitfall Trap, so bringing one is recommended for uninterrupted damage. Flash Bombs are also effective, especially against the Spinning Top move. If the Rust Duramboros gets into the air, run away.
