Gobul

The Gobul is a large, fish-like creature recognizable by its flat shape and glowing lantern. It can attack on land and in water, but is significantly more dangerous in its aquatic environment. When enraged, it puffs up its body into a spiky balloon.

Habitat: Flooded Forest: 1, 3, 4 (Spawn), 5, 6, 8 (Rest)

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Weak Spots: Lantern, Belly, Back (Cut; no Rage)
• Susceptible to: Fatigue, Poison
• Strong Against: Water, Dragon
• Weak Against: Thunder, Fire

Part Durability:

• Lantern: Very Low Durability - Causes Large Lurch/Lurch or Knockdown in Water when durability decreases.
• Head, Body: High Durability - Causes Large Lurch/Lurch or Knockdown in Water when durability decreases.
• Legs (x2): Low Durability - Causes Large Lurch/Lurch or Knockdown in Water when durability decreases.
• Tail: Medium Durability - Causes Large Lurch/Lurch or Knockdown in Water when durability decreases.

Breakable Parts:

• Lantern: Decrease Durability Twice to break. Breaking it stops the Blinding Light Attack and provides Extra Rewards.
• Tail: Damage with Cut Weapon to break. Breaking it provides an Extra Carve.

Rage Effects:

• Attack: 130%
• Defence: No Change
• Speed: 120%

Key Attacks:

• Burrow: The Gobul hides in the sand. On land, it moves near a hunter and launches out. Underwater, it either explodes skyward or tries to pull prey into its mouth with suction.
• Barrel Roll: The Gobul puffs up and rotates. Underwater, it doesn't move far; on land, it's similar to the Royal Ludroth's attack.
• Charge: The Gobul opens its jaw and charges forward.

Strategy:

• The ideal place to fight the Gobul is on land. If possible, fish it out of the water. On land, it acts like an oversized Royal Ludroth with a dangerous mouth. Attack near its front or back, then move to avoid its incoming attack.
• Underwater, the Gobul is a formidable opponent. Aim for its belly, considering how it puffs up its back. Focus on quick, small hits and stay low to the ground.
• If the Gobul burrows, swim around it with a wide berth, aiming to be past its target if it inhales. If it inhales, keep swimming as it may adjust its aim.
