Ceadeus: Elder Dragon 2

Defeat the final Low Rank monster, Ceadeus, in monster hunter 3 ultimate. Learn its weaknesses, key attacks, and recommended strategy.

Habitat: Ancient Ruins: 1 (Spawn), 2, 3

Properties:

• Weak Spots: Beard, Breast
• Susceptible to: Explosives
• Strong Against: Water, Ice
• Weak Against: Dragon, Thunder

Part Durability:

• Head/Horn: High Durability (Effect: Large Lurch)
• Beard: Ultra High Durability (Effect: Large Lurch)
• Neck/Back, Belly: Ultra High Durability (Effect: Lurch)
• Breast: Very High Durability (Effect: Lurch)
• Fin: Medium Durability (Effect: Lurch)
• Tail: Very High Durability (Effect: Large Lurch)

Breakable Parts:

• Horn: Break by decreasing durability in Area 3. Effect: Extra Rewards, Drives Ceadeus away.
• Beard, Back, Tail: Break by decreasing durability. Effect: Extra Rewards.

Rage Effects: Attack: 125%, Defence: No Change, Speed: 100%

Key Attacks:

• Drift: Ceadeus will do damage with its tail and fins even when it is simply drifting.
• Tail Slam: Ceadeus pulls back and swipes the area in front of it with its massive tail.
• Dragon Beam: Ceadeus begins pulling in power to its mouth before firing a powerful beam straight forward. Ceadeus’ mouth moves backwards a significant amount at the point of firing as well, so make sure to be well clear.
• Charge: Ceadeus will ravel up and then charge forward, open mouthed, damaging anything that gets in the way of its huge body.

Recommended Strategy: The best position to attack the Ceadeus from is right in front of its face. Its body is so big that this is the most constantly stationary part of it - abuse its noggin and focus on staying there, dodging up when you’ve hit a few times. Also make sure you make full use of the ballista that sit around the tower in the arena, there are two. Swim up slightly and spot them on flat spots. Use the ballistics (shooting when the Ceadeus is close) and then simply focus on Ceadeus’ face and deal as many hits as you can find to dish out.
