First off, you've got a table of challenges that'll help you rack up Stars. Pay attention to these, as they're your main way to rank up!

Here’s the lowdown on tackling these:

• Full Swing: This is your bread and butter for the 'Full Power' challenge. Just draw your weapon, hold down the [A] button, and then let go right when you hear that little chime. It's a powerful move, so use it to take down those 10 monsters quickly.
• Veggie Patrol: Most of your early fights will be against Carrotys in the East Grassy Plains. The challenges 'A Monster… Carrot?', 'Slicin’ and Dicin’!', and 'Carrot King' all involve taking these guys down. Just keep at it, and you'll clear them out.
• Finding the Dragon Mustard: The 'Masked Menace' challenge requires you to defeat a Dragon Mustard. This guy can be a bit tricky to find. He tends to spawn around the same areas as the Carrotys, especially in the highlands to the north-west, center, and east of the plains. If you're having trouble spotting it, just leave the East Grassy Plains and come back in – sometimes that's all it takes to get a new spawn.
• The Big Veggie - Carrotella: For the 'Back to your Roots' challenge, you'll need to take down a Carrotella. This is a bigger, tougher version of the regular Carrotys. It's guaranteed to spawn alongside the Carrotys, so you don't have to hunt around as much. Just make sure you're prepared! Bring plenty of Potions with you, and don't rush in. Pace yourself during the fight, and you'll get it done.

The main thing to remember is that you can stack these challenges. So, while you're out there defeating Carrotys for one challenge, you might also be working towards another.
