Learn the ins and outs of crafting in Fantasy Life! Discover how to use workbenches, master recipes, and create high-quality items to become a crafting legend.

Hey there! So, you're looking to get into crafting in Fantasy Life? It's a super rewarding part of the game, and honestly, once you get the hang of one crafting Life, you've pretty much got the gist of them all. Think of it like a fun little rhythm game mixed with your chosen profession!

First things first, you'll need your tool and a trusty workbench. You can usually find these in your Master's place or in various towns around Reveria. Once you're there, you'll open up the menu to pick a recipe you've learned. If you've got all the ingredients, you're good to go!

Where to Find Recipes: You'll snag new recipes automatically as you rank up in a Life, or sometimes your Life colleagues will share them. You can always check your current recipe book by hitting the Menu button and heading over to the 'License' section.

Your Crafting Station

Every workbench has three distinct 'work spaces' where the magic happens. Each space will ask you to perform one of three actions:

  • Mash the A button: Just hammer that A button as fast as you can! Speed is key here.
  • Hold the A button: Yep, it's as simple as it sounds. Just keep that A button held down.
  • Time the A button: This one requires a bit of finesse. You'll need to press the A button precisely when the moving cursor lines up with the 'A' symbol.

Now, the exact type and layout of these work spaces will change depending on your Life. For example, a Blacksmith might have 'Hold A' on the left, 'Time A' in the middle, and 'Mash A' on the right. A Tailor, on the other hand, might have 'Mash A' on the left, 'Time A' in the middle, and another 'Time A' on the right, but with a faster cursor!

The Crafting Workflow

Once you've figured out your work spaces, you'll follow the crafting process shown in the bottom-left corner of your top screen. It always starts from the left and moves right.

The sequence of actions is randomized each time – you might get a 'Mash A, Mash A, Time A' combo, or something else entirely! The game is pretty helpful and will give you prompts at each step. At the beginning, your crafting might only have a couple of steps, but as you tackle more complex items, you'll need to complete a whole series of them.

Keep an eye on the Completion gauge in the top-left corner. Once it hits 100%, you've successfully crafted your item! Just remember, you're also racing against the clock, shown by the timer in the top-right corner. If you don't finish before time runs out, you won't create the item. Don't worry though, you won't lose your materials, but your effort will be wasted!

Product Complete! High-Quality Items & More

Here's where things get exciting! Depending on your Life, if you finish a craft quickly and have a high enough skill level, you might create high-quality items. These are super valuable, sell for more, and often have better stats.

For material items, quality goes from Normal, to Good (a simple crown), Great (a pronged crown), and finally Top (a fancy crown). The better the quality, the better the item!

For food and potions, you might get a “Super” version – that’s the best you can get! Plus, if you're skilled, you might even craft more than one item at a time. So, if a recipe says it makes 1 item, you might end up with 2!

Human Factory: Bulk & Auto Mode

As you get more experienced with crafting the same item, you can start producing them in bulk, up to 10 at once! Just make sure you have enough ingredients for the whole batch. Keep in mind that crafting in bulk gives you less experience per item.

And for the ultimate convenience, once you're really familiar with an item, you can switch to Auto Mode by pressing the Y button during crafting. Your character will handle all the actions automatically. The trade-off? Items made in Auto Mode will be of lesser quality (unless you unlock Auto Mode+) and you'll gain significantly less experience.
