Creating your Avatar: New Life

Hey there! So, you're jumping into Fantasy Life, huh? Awesome! First things first, you gotta make your character. It's a pretty big deal because, get this, you can't change most of your avatar's appearance later on. The good news is you can totally switch up your Life (your job, basically) and hairstyle whenever you want. And if you grab the 'Origin Island' DLC, you can even completely remake your avatar after finishing the story – though you'll stick with your chosen gender.

When you're creating your character, you'll get to decide on a bunch of stuff, mostly for looks:

• Gender: Boy or Girl. This actually matters for what clothes you can wear.
• Body: You'll pick your body shape and skin color.
• Head: Choose the shape of your head.
• Hairstyle: Pick out your hair and its color.
• Face: This is where you fine-tune your eyes, mouth, eyebrows, nose, ears, and even other little details.
• Voice: Select the voice your character will use in battles.
• Name: What everyone will call you throughout your adventures.
• Life: This is your starting job or vocation.

Heads up, the 'Origin Island' DLC throws in a ton more hairstyles and options. If you get the DLC after you've already made your character, you can use those new options, but you'll have to wait until you unlock the avatar recustomization feature. Just remember, you can change your Life later, but you'll have to play through the intro quest for your very first Life. Subsequent Life changes let you skip that intro.
