The Rune Research Lab is a dungeon in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes containing nine chests. This guide details the contents of each chest, enemy encounters, and strategies for navigating the area.

Walkthrough

Begin at the graveyard and proceed through Ardinale city to the left underside near the general store.

After a cutscene, enter the general store and go to the back room to recruit Ivy and Yaelu.

Head to the right side of the area to acquire the dragon tank, which will transport you to the next area containing the dungeon.

Upon entering the Rune Research Lab, take the first left to find a chest containing an Anti-Confuse Scarf.

Proceed to the eastern side to find a chest with a Red Key.

Follow the path north and use the Red Key to open a door, then open the chest inside for a Blue Key.

Backtrack to the corridor leading west. Enter the room on the opposite side to find a chest with Patchwork Armor.

Head to the northernmost point of the map and enter the room on the right for the Tom Yam Kung Recipe.

Go down the left corridor to trigger a scene.

After regaining control, enter the next open room for a chest containing another Blue Key.

Follow the path and take the next right to find a chest with the Breton Galette Recipe.

Proceed south and open the chest for a Red Key.

Work your way back up, take the next left, and open the chest for a Crankshaft.

Return to the northernmost point of the dungeon and use the Crankshaft to open the shutter. Enter the next room to trigger a scene.

You will face Dux Aldric in a Duel. Pay close attention to his dialogue and select the correct responses to minimize damage. The correct responses are: Attack, Counter, Attack, Counter, Attack, Counter. This is not a winnable battle; deplete his HP and a cutscene will play.

Tips

Consider purchasing new equipment and stocking up on healing items in Ardinale City before entering the lab, as you may be underleveled with the new party members.
Use Area of Effect (AoE) attacks like Earth Shaker when fighting large groups of enemies.
Have Yaelu use Blinding Fog at the start of battles to potentially blind enemies and cause them to miss attacks.
If a Treasure Chest appears during a battle, try to have everyone attempt to open it to obtain an Energizing Scarf.
A chest in the northern main corridor, near a blockade, contains the Mystical Magic Medicine.
