Kuroto Recruitment Guide

So, you're looking to recruit Kuroto, huh? He's a pretty straightforward recruit who you can find pretty early on. Once you finish up the prologue and get to Eltisweiss, you'll be tasked by Ymir to start gathering allies for the Watch. After that, you can head out to explore Grum County. Look for Altverden Village in the southwest corner of the map. Head inside, and you'll spot a guy standing in front of a building in the southwestern part of the village. That's Kuroto!

When you chat with him, he'll introduce himself as an expert hunter and sense that you're pretty special. He's willing to join up, but you'll need to prove your worth first. His request? Take down five Wild Boars. Now, it's possible you've already downed enough of them during your travels, so he might just give you the nod right away. If not, no worries, we know where to find them!

Wild Boar Location

Don't stress about hunting these boars; they're not hiding in some obscure corner of the world. You'll find them hanging out in the Redthroat Ridge area. This dungeon is located on the eastern side of Grum County and, conveniently, it's also where you can recruit Yume and Mellore. The Wild Boars just appear as random enemies in Redthroat Ridge. Sometimes you'll get lucky and find a fight with two boars at once, which really speeds things up. Other times, it might take you 20-30 minutes of grinding. Pro-tip: they seem to spawn a bit more frequently the deeper you venture into the dungeon, so if you're not finding them near the entrance, push further in.

To be absolutely sure you've met the requirement, especially if you're unsure if you've already defeated enough, make sure you take down all five when you visit Redthroat Ridge. Since the dungeon is a bit of a trek from Altverden Village, you don't want to be making extra trips back and forth if you can help it.

Once you've bagged those five Wild Boars, head back to Altverden Village and have another chat with Kuroto. He'll be impressed and finally join your party!
