After the initial cutscene and character customization, you spawn in front of the bus station.

Open your phone ('Tab') and read the message from 'Unknown' to start the 'Getting Started' quest.

Go to the payphone and talk to 'U.N.' (Uncle Nelson).

He instructs you to retrieve his stash near the skatepark, located on a ledge by the motel road. You will find $375.

Speak to the motel manager, Donna, in the house next to the motel to get the 'Rent a motel room' quest.

Pickpocket Donna to steal back the $75 needed for the room.

Once the plant is fully grown, use the 'Plant Trimmers' on the grow tent to harvest the buds.

Interact with the packaging station, place baggies in the 'Packaging' slot and buds in the 'Input' slot. Press 'Pack' and drag buds into baggies, then drag the baggies into the hopper. Packaged weed will appear in the output.

Tips

Speed-runners often open the motel room door and immediately step out to trigger the next quest objective.
Depositing cash in the ATM is safer as you won't lose it if caught by police or if you die.
Holding Shift while grabbing items from storage allows you to collect the entire stack with one click. Right-clicking and scrolling adjusts the amount.
Watering the plant before sowing the seed is possible.
Sleeping right after watering plants conserves water and time, and significantly advances growth.
You can unpackage weed by reversing the packaging process.
