After the initial cutscene and character customization, you spawn in front of the bus station.

Open your phone ('Tab') and read the message from 'Unknown' to start the 'Getting Started' quest.

Go to the payphone and talk to 'U.N.' (Uncle Nelson), who instructs you to retrieve his stash near the skatepark.

Collect $375 from the dead drop located on the ledge near the road to the motel.

Speak to the motel manager, Donna, in the house next to the motel to accept the 'Rent a motel room' quest.

Optionally, crouch behind Donna and press 'E' to pickpocket the $75 needed for the room, returning it to your inventory.

Go to motel room 1 and step inside to complete the quest objective.

Return to the payphone to speak with Uncle Nelson again.

Accept the 'Gearing Up' questline. The first objective is to go to the hardware store.

Locate the hardware store on your map ('M') or by walking down the road from your room.

At the hardware store, deposit your cash at the ATM and purchase a grow tent, soil bag, and watering can.

Return to your motel room, place the grow tent, and add soil to the pot.

Go back to the payphone to speak with Uncle Nelson, who introduces Albert Hoover.

Open your phone and send a message to Albert Hoover to order seeds. Select 'OG Kush' and place the order.

Retrieve the seed from the highlighted dead drop delivered by Albert.

Return to your motel room, sow the seed in the grow tent by pressing 'E' while holding the seed.

Fill the watering can at the sink and water the plant in the grow tent.

Sleep to advance plant growth. Plants grow approximately 15% per in-game hour.

Once the plant is fully grown, use the 'Plant Trimmers' to harvest the buds.

Place down the 'Packaging Station'.

Interact with the packaging station, drag baggies and buds into the respective slots, and press 'Pack'.

Drag each bud into a baggie, then drag the filled baggie into the hopper to package the weed.

Tips

Character appearance is locked after creation but can be changed in game files. Future updates will include barbershops and clothing shops for appearance changes.
Speed-runners can open the motel room door and step inside, then immediately leave to complete the objective quickly.
Depositing all cash at the ATM is safer as it prevents loss from fines or medical bills if caught by police or dying.
Items that don't fit in your inventory are placed on pallets outside the hardware store.
Hold 'Shift' when grabbing items from storage to take the entire stack.
Right-click and scroll to adjust the amount when grabbing items.
Paying Albert Hoover's tab by placing cash in the dead drop behind the hardware store is recommended. He will only take what is owed.

Sleeping after watering plants conserves water and time, and significantly advances growth.
