Learn how to start your journey in Schedule I. This guide covers character customization, initial quests like 'Getting Started' and 'Rent a Motel Room', and essential early-game purchases.

This guide covers the initial stages of Schedule I, from character creation to your first steps in Hyland Point. You'll learn about customizing your appearance, starting quests, renting a motel room, and buying essential equipment.

Starting the Game:

Upon starting Schedule I, a cutscene introduces the game's lore. You'll then customize your character; this choice is permanent for your save file unless edited in game files. After customization, you spawn near the bus station across from the motel. Your first quest, 'Getting Started', prompts you to check your phone ('Tab' key) for a message from 'Unknown', who directs you to a payphone. There, you'll meet 'U.N.' (Uncle Nelson), who tasks you with retrieving his stash near the skatepark. The stash, located on a ledge near the motel road, contains $375.

Renting a Motel Room:

After collecting the cash, speak to the motel manager, Donna, in the adjacent house. The quest updates to 'Rent a motel room'. You can then pickpocket Donna to steal back the $75 needed for the room, providing an early cash boost. Enter room 1 to complete the objective. Uncle Nelson will then request another meeting at the payphone.

Buying Equipment:

The 'Gearing Up' questline begins, directing you to the hardware store. Locate it by pressing 'M' and following the yellow star, or by navigating the road past your room. At the hardware store, you'll need to deposit cash at an ATM and purchase a grow tent, soil bag, and watering can. Depositing money at the ATM is recommended for safety against fines or medical bills. Speak to Dan to purchase items; use the 'Add to Cart' or quantity selection. Items exceeding inventory space are placed outside. Recommended purchases include 'Plant Trimmers', 'Packaging Station', and 10 'Baggies'. A trash grabber and 'Trash bag' are optional but useful for managing space and completing a minor quest. If you mention being a drug dealer to Dan, he may gift you 'Speed Grow'. After purchasing, return to your motel room, place the grow tent, and fill it with soil. Then, meet Uncle Nelson at the payphone again.

Planting your First Seeds:

Uncle Nelson introduces Albert Hoover. Check your phone for a message from Albert regarding ordering seeds. Select 'I need to order a [dead drop]' to access the seed interface. Initially, only 'OG Kush' is available. Orders are delivered to a [dead drop] location, marked by a small metal drawer with a cross. The first delivery is quick; subsequent deliveries take approximately 4 in-game hours. Debts are managed via a tab, payable at a [dead drop] behind the hardware store. After retrieving the seed, sow it in the grow tent by holding the seed and pressing 'E'. Water the plant using the watering can, which can be filled at the sink. Plants grow approximately 15% per in-game hour. Sleeping after watering can optimize growth and conserve water. Once the plant is fully grown, use 'Plant Trimmers' to harvest the buds.

Packaging:

Place the 'Packaging Station' and use its interface to package the harvested buds into baggies. Drag baggies to the 'Packaging' spot and buds to the 'Input'. Press 'Pack', then drag each bud into a bag, and the bag into the hopper. Packaged weed will appear in the output. You can also unpack weed using the interface. Jars can also be purchased at the hardware store for storage.
