Character Creation & Spawn: After a short cutscene, customize your character. You will spawn in front of the bus station across from the motel.

'Getting Started' Quest: Open your phone ('Tab' key), read messages. A message from 'Unknown' directs you to a payphone to meet 'U.N.' (Uncle Nelson).

Fetch Stash: Uncle Nelson instructs you to retrieve his stash near the skatepark, located on a ledge by the motel road. You will find $375.

Rent Motel Room: Speak to the motel manager, Donna, in the house next to the motel. The quest updates to 'Rent a motel room'. After dialogue, you can pickpocket Donna to steal back the $75 needed for the room.

Check Motel Room: Go to room labeled '1' and step inside to complete the quest objective.

Return to Payphone: Speak to Uncle Nelson again at the payphone.

'Gearing Up' Questline: A new questline begins. Go to the hardware store (marked by a yellow star on the map, or by walking forward from your room until the road ends, then turning left).

Hardware Store Purchases: You will receive quests to deposit cash at the ATM and purchase a grow tent, soil bag, and watering can. It's recommended to also buy 'Plant Trimmers', 'Packaging Station', and 10 'Baggies'. Optionally, buy a trash grabber and 'Trash bag'. If you tell Dan you're a drug dealer, he may gift you 'Speed Grow'.

Deposit Cash & Setup: Deposit all cash at the ATM for safety. Back in your motel room, place the grow tent and add soil to the pot using the watering can.

Return to Uncle Nelson: Speak to Uncle Nelson at the payphone again.

Meet Albert Hoover & Order Seeds: Uncle Nelson introduces Albert Hoover. Check your phone for a message from Albert. Message him to order seeds; 'OG Kush' is the basic option. Place your order.

Retrieve Seeds: Albert will deliver the seeds to a highlighted 'dead drop' location around the city. The first delivery is quick; subsequent ones take about 4 in-game hours. You do not pay immediately; debts are put on a tab.

Pay Tab: Pay your tab by placing cash in the dead drop behind the hardware store.

Sow and Water Seed: Retrieve the seeds from the dead drop. Go to your grow tent and sow the seed by pressing 'E' when prompted while holding the seed. Water the plant using the watering can (fill it at the sink).

Plant Growth & Sleep: The plant grows about 15% per in-game hour. Sleeping after watering is efficient, as it advances plant growth and prevents water waste.

Harvesting: Once the plant is fully grown, use the 'Plant Trimmers' on the grow tent to harvest the buds.

Packaging: Place down the 'Packaging Station'. Interact with it to package the buds into baggies using the 'Packaging Station' interface. You can also unpack items if needed.

Tips

Character appearance is locked after creation but can be changed via game files. Full release will include barbershops, clothing shops, and tattoo parlors.
Speed-runners can open the motel room door and immediately start the next quest.
Depositing cash at the ATM is safer as you won't lose it if caught by police or if you die.
Holding 'Shift' while grabbing items from storage allows you to take the entire stack. Right-clicking and scrolling allows for custom amounts.
'Speed Grow' may affect product quality in the full release, but not currently.
Sleeping after watering plants is efficient for growth and water conservation.
'OG Kush' is recommended for its ease and cost-effectiveness in creating better products later.
Dead drops are highlighted when they contain items.
