Weapon and Armor Proficiency

Metamorphs are proficient with all natural attacks but not with armor.

Morphic Pool

A metamorph possesses an innate pool of bioenergy to fuel their abilities. The maximum amount of bioenergy is equal to the metamorph's class levels plus their permanent Constitution modifier. This pool is not self-refilling and requires the consumption of biomass. Temporary increases to Constitution do not affect the morphic pool's capacity.

Spending morphic pool points is a free action.

Biophage

Metamorphs can consume biomass for sustenance. They can consume the biomass of a helpless or recently deceased creature. Consuming a helpless creature deals damage equal to its HD per full-round spent. Consuming a recently deceased creature takes a number of rounds equal to its CR (must have been dead for no longer than CR hours). Each full-round of biomass consumption restores 1 point to the morphic pool. Creatures with less than 1 CR require 1 round to consume and restore 1 point. This ability does not work on creatures smaller than Tiny and is not considered an evil act.

Unstable Stability

A metamorph gains a +4 bonus on saves against spells of the polymorph subschool due to their preternatural control over their own body.

Rapid Mutation

A metamorph can rapidly mutate their body into grotesque weapons by expending morphic pool. Mutations form instantly and last for 10 minutes. A metamorph can safely spend 1 morphic pool point per round on mutations. As a swift action, they can brace themselves to safely spend 1 additional point per round. Spending points in excess of the limit inflicts 1 point of Constitution damage that cannot be reduced or healed until the metamorph reverts to their natural form. At level 11, the metamorph can safely mutate 1 additional point when bracing.

Metamorphs cannot use rapid mutation while under the effect of a polymorph spell, and active mutations are suppressed under such conditions.

The number of natural attacks a metamorph can have is limited by level:

  • 1st level: 3 natural attacks
  • 3rd level: 4 natural attacks
  • 6th level: 5 natural attacks
  • 9th level: 6 natural attacks
  • 11th level: 7 natural attacks
  • 13th level: 8 natural attacks
  • 15th level: 9 natural attacks
  • 17th level: 10 natural attacks

Racial natural attacks and items that grant natural attacks count against this limit.

1-Point Mutations

Bite (Ex): Grants a bite attack dealing 1d6 damage (1d8 if Large, 2d6 if Huge). This is a primary attack. If a bite attack already exists, this mutation enhances it.
