Third Area: Boolossus

Learn how to beat Boolossus, the giant Boo boss on the Balcony 3F in Luigi's Mansion. Master unicorn statue attacks and ice ghost strategies for victory!

Stats / Weaknesses:

• Boolossus: 10HP (as a whole)
• Boo: 3HP (individual)
• Weakness: Unicorn statues (for Boolossus), Ice Ghosts (for scattered Boos)

Phases:

1. Boolossus Attack: The 15 Boos merge into a giant Boolossus on the Balcony 3F. It will jump at you. Your goal is to get it to smash into the frozen unicorn statues lining the arena. Run to the left or right, position yourself in front of a unicorn, and dodge out of the way just as Boolossus is about to hit you. It'll shatter on impact.
2. Scattered Boos: Once Boolossus shatters, the 15 individual Boos will scatter. Ice ghosts will appear near the unicorn statues. Vacuum one of these ice ghosts to refill your ice meter. Then, use the ice spray (press L until it clicks) to freeze the scattered Boos. Once frozen, you can vacuum them up. Be careful: the fewer Boos there are, the faster and more aggressive they become. If you don't spray ice on them, they'll attack. Keep yourself towards the lower part of the screen, especially when only a few are left, to keep them in your sights. Vacuuming a frozen ghost refills your ice.
3. Reformation: Boolossus will reform periodically. You'll need to shatter it against the unicorn statues again. Each time it reforms, it will be smaller if fewer Boos are remaining. Smaller Boolossus moves faster, but you can also hold it in your vacuum beam and steer it into a unicorn horn.
4. Final Victory: Keep repeating the process of shattering Boolossus and vacuuming the scattered Boos until all 15 are defeated.

Strategy:

• When Boolossus is large, don't try to vacuum it directly. Focus on dodging its jumps and luring it into the unicorn statues.
• When dealing with the scattered Boos, prioritize freezing them with ice. This makes them easy targets.
• Keep an eye on your ice meter; vacuuming frozen ghosts replenishes it.
• If you're struggling with the scattered Boos, especially when only one or two are left, switch to using the shoot function (press L repeatedly) to try and catch them.
• For a gold frame, aim to finish the battle with 90 HP or more. Avoid taking unnecessary hits, especially when only one Boo remains. Keep spraying ice to keep them at bay.
