Before you worry about the Portrait Ghost, take a moment to check the marionette dolls hanging from the ceiling on either side of the room. Vacuum the area where they hang from to find some hidden cash or other goodies.

Next, you'll see three clocks scattered around the room. Approach each of them and press [A] to activate them. This will trigger the Portrait Ghost encounter: The Toy Platoon.

The Toy Platoon soldiers will start shooting their toy guns at you, and trust me, it stings! Don't worry, you don't need to capture all three at once. The blue soldier in the middle is the one you need to focus on, as capturing him is what yields your pearls. So, your priority is to vacuum up the green and pink soldiers first. You can drop them and re-vacuum them as many times as you need, but you'll need to be more focused when it's time to capture the blue one. Remember, they all count as a single Portrait Ghost encounter.

After you've dealt with the Toy Platoon, it's time to catch the Boo. You'll notice that a door has opened in the house structure that the blue soldier was guarding.

Head through this newly opened door. Doing so will lead you up to the roof of the mansion.
