Learn how to start Luigi's Mansion, get the Poltergust 3000, and meet Professor E. Gadd in this introductory walkthrough.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
When the game starts, you control Luigi equipped only with his flashlight as he walks through a spooky forest on a dark night with ravens on the tree branches.
  2. 2
Luigi looks at his map (minimap (the small circular map in the bottom-left corner of your screen)) and sees a nice house surrounded by beautiful environments, but in reality, he sees a spooky mansion.
  3. 3
At the door, Luigi expects to see Mario but figures Mario is inside, so he opens the door and enters.
  4. 4
Once inside, go up the stairs, touch the doors with the A button, and then go back down.
  5. 5
A key will be hovering in the sky in an orange mass. The orange mass will disappear, and the key will fall to the ground.
  6. 6
Grab the key and go up the stairs to the big double doors, where the key is supposed to be inserted.
  7. 7
Enter the room, and a cut-scene (cut-scene) will play where Professor E. Gadd tries to vacuum a ghost but fails.
  8. 8
Professor E. Gadd then chats with Luigi.
  9. 9
Three more ghosts appear, and both Luigi and the professor flee to the scientist's lab.
  10. 10
In the lab, Luigi will explain the situation.
  11. 11
Luigi will be equipped with Professor E. Gadd's ghost vacuum cleaner, the Poltergust 3000, and the Game Boy Horror (HUD (heads-up display — the on-screen icons showing health, ammo and the minimap)).
  12. 12
Luigi will head back into the house to save his brother, Mario.
Tips
  • Pay attention to the minimap to orient yourself.
  • The Game Boy Horror provides crucial information on your HUD.
