    The 1F corridor is now lit and safe. Remember to water the plant in the boneyard (reached from the Kitchen) again; it should bloom into a flower.

    Head to the sealed door in the top-left corner of the corridor to enter the Courtyard.

    In the Courtyard, you'll find a fountain, plants, trees, and statues. A large statue initially holds a heart (50 HP).

    Defeat the pink blobs.

    The central fountain contains Water Ghosts. Water the four surrounding plants for money, gems, and hearts.

    Follow the path to the right. A White Ghost will drop from a tree. You will then encounter three more White Ghosts that are purple and drop from trees.

    Defeat all these ghosts to reveal a treasure chest full of money.

    Go down the well to proceed.

    To the right, a cut-scene will play showing Mario trapped in a painting.

    A White Ghost will appear; defeat it to obtain a key.

    Use this key for the door in the right-most area of the Courtyard.

    Go up to the Courtyard and head right. Pick up Mario's letter from the nesting box. This is a dropped item that can be shown to the Fortune-teller.

    Vacuum the hut from the left to open it, revealing a Toad. Save your game and proceed to the next room.
Tips
  • Watering the boneyard plant can be done anytime during the third area.
  • The large statue in the Courtyard holds a heart (50 HP) unless you are playing the NTSC version.
