- 1After travelling south of Merhojed, ride slowly and listen to your companions. You will find a burnt farm. Search the farm for traces of attackers.
- 2Evidence can be found inside the house directly in front of the farmyard entrance. Go inside and enter the first door on your right. Find a dagger, a House Zoul shield, and a note to Sir Radzig on the wall.
- 3Take the items to Kuno and speak with him. He will ask you to report to Sir Radzig. You can choose to do this immediately or volunteer to look for the raiders.
- 4If you volunteer, head east of the farm until you approach a small outhouse. Nearby, you will find the corpse of a horse. Inspect it to initiate the next phase.
- 5Head into the woods further east. In a clearing of grass, you will find an open sack of apples. Inspect it.
- 6Walk toward the path to your left until you find a tree with a piece of clothing hanging from it. Inspect the clothing.
- 7Continue along the path and find more clothing on the edge of the road. Inspect it.
- 8Cross the road and follow traces of blood until you approach a wooden keg. Inspect it.
- 9Continue further into the woods, following the traces of blood. Look for a birch tree with a patch of blood on its bark.
- 10From the birch tree, continue into the woods until you hear voices. You will enter a clearing; the raider camp will be visible on the other side.
- 11Equip the shield you found as evidence before attacking the camp. Use your bow to take out as many raiders as possible from the trees before they reach you.
- 12Once the raiders are dead, report to Sir Radzig to finish the quest.
- 13After speaking with Kuno about the message for Sir Radzig, ride north with the gang to the forest northwest of Uzhitz. You will encounter a mill menaced by raiders.
- 14Kuno will suggest waiting until the raiders are intoxicated. You can agree to attack later that night, or persuade Kuno to attack now to prevent harm to innocents.
- 15If you agree to wait, follow Kuno and his men to the village under cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) of darkness. Keep an eye on Kuno’s shield crest to avoid losing them.
- 16After defeating the raiders, the gang will sit at tables outside the mill. Speak with some of them.
- 17Sit at the table with Kuno and indulge his stories until the dialogue options end, or choose not to and drink the night away.
- 18You will wake up with a headache and need to speak with Kuno at his encampment.
- 19After speaking with Kuno about where to go next, a cutscene (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) (a non-interactive cinematic the game plays automatically) will initiate as the gang travels toward Sasau. The gang is ambushed at a ford in the river northwest of the monastery. You must fight your way back to the river bank to find cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects).
- 20After speaking with Kuno, you will have the option to volunteer to find Jakey. It does not matter which option you choose; Kuno will insist that each man leaves the area on their own.
- 21Kuno has discovered Jakey is at the Inn in the Glade. Make your way there to accost and question Jakey.
- 22Speak with the owner, Andrew, at the inn. Andrew can usually be found outside the tavern entrance.
- 23If you have good relations with Andrew from previous quests, he will tell you where Jakey was last seen without trouble. If you have scorned Andrew, you will need to use your strongest persuasion skill during dialogue to get the information.
- The dead horse should be easy to spot in the grass beside the outhouse.
- The clothing item can be found hanging from a tree near where you found the horse.
- The apples are easy to spot among the foliage if you keep looking at the ground as you walk.
- The clothes are located at the edge of the road. If struggling to spot them, head to the road and walk along it to the northeast.
- The birch tree is one of few in the region, so it should stand out amongst darker trees.
- The camp can be seen at the edge of the woods once you descend the hill.
- When moving under cover of darkness, keep Kuno’s shield crest in sight to avoid losing the group.

Awakening: Main Story Walkthrough
Your guide to Kingdom Come: Deliverance's 'Awakening' quest. Learn how to speak with Theresa, meet Sir Radzig, and prepare for your next steps in Rattay.
Alright, so you've woken up after that rough nightmare sequence. You're at Rattay Mill, which is owned by Peshek, Theresa's uncle. Your first order of business is to chat with Theresa. You can ask her a bunch of questions about what went down at Skalitz, and you get to do this every time you wake up after resting. Just keep talking to her until you've gone through all the dialogue options. This is your chance to really get the full story of what happened to you and everyone else.
Once you've wrung Theresa dry of information, you're free to get up. You'll notice you now have the main quest 'Vengeance' with objectives to 'Get father’s sword back' and 'Find Markvart von Aulitz and avenge your parents'. Heads up, though – these can't be completed just yet, as they tie into later content. For now, your main focus should be on the 'Awakening' quest. You need to head over to Pirkstein, which is the Lower Castle in Rattay, and see Sir Radzig.
Before you head out, don't forget to grab your gear from the chest by the bed. If you've got some Groschen to spare, a trip to the bathhouse south of the mill is a good idea for a clean start. If you're a bit short on cash, no worries – there's a trough just outside the mill where you can wash up for free.
Now, time to head to Pirkstein castle. When you enter Rattay through the lower gate, a guard will stop you. He'll ask what business you have in town. The best way to get past him is to use Speech and tell him you have news about Sir Radzig's sword. Trying to intimidate him or claiming to be Sir Radzig's blacksmith won't work, and you'll want to save your Groschen for when it's really needed.
After you've dealt with the guard at the lower gate, make your way towards Pirkstein. You'll need to speak to the guards at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the castle. Then, climb to the top floor. Sir Radzig is waiting for you in the room at the very end of the corridor. This is where you'll wrap up the 'Awakening' quest and meet some key characters like Sir Hans Capon, Sir Hanush, Captain Bernard, and the local priest.
- While you're in Rattay, it's a great time to pick up side quests, like 'The Good Thief,' to pay off your debt to Peshek. Doing these side quests will help you level up your skills, making the tougher main quests down the line a lot easier.
- Don't forget to collect your equipment from the chest by the bed before leaving Rattay Mill.
- If you're low on funds, use the free trough outside the mill to wash instead of paying for the bathhouse.
