Learn how to pickpocket, lockpick, and sell stolen items in kingdom come deliverance. Avoid guards and increase your chances of success.
Walkthrough
- 1Pickpocketing: To increase your chances of success, wear as little as possible, remove noisy items, avoid running, and crouch near your target to reduce noise. Pickpocket at night for darkness and to catch targets sleeping. End your search when the icon turns from yellow to red to minimize risk.
- 2Lockpicking: Observe guard and resident movements before attempting to pick locks on chests or doors. Lock difficulty ranges from very easy to very hard, and your success depends on your skill level. Practice on locks within your capability, preferably at night, to gradually increase your skill and unlock perks.
- 3Lockpicking Mechanism: Once the lockpick mechanism is open, move the small silver ball until it turns gold. Carefully rotate the lock while maintaining the golden ball's position. Failure to do so will break the lockpick.
- 4Knock Out / Stealth Kill: For guaranteed acquisition of items, you can knock out or stealth kill your target. Crouch behind or over a sleeping target and choose the option. Be aware that this can reduce your reputation and increase the risk of interrogation by guards.
- 5Selling Stolen Items: Stolen items, identified by a red hand icon, cannot be sold to most vendors. To make them sellable, travel far from the theft location and wait a couple of days for the stolen icon to disappear. Alternatively, store items in your horse's inventory or a home chest and wait for time to pass. For immediate sales, visit Miller Peshek at Rattay Mill, Woyzeck at Kohelnitz, or Simon at Sasau Mill.
Tips
- When pickpocketing, crouching reduces the noise you make.
- Pickpocketing at night offers cover (press the cover button to crouch behind walls or objects) in darkness and allows you to steal from sleeping targets.
- Time elapsed while searching a target increases your risk of being caught; end your search when the icon turns red.
- When selling stolen items, the people in different regions will not recognize the item as stolen if you are far enough away.
- If a guard finds stolen items on you, you will be sent to jail and your reputation will suffer. You can use persuasion to avoid this.
