Learn about Hitman: Absolution's core mechanics in Part 7, covering enemy patterns, disguises, attention systems, and distractions to master stealth.
The user-defined checkpoint system in Hitman: Absolution does not save progress on subdued or killed individuals. If you create a checkpoint after eliminating enemies, restarting from that checkpoint will bring them back to life with their patrol patterns reset, rendering the system largely ineffective for tracking progress.
Walkthrough
- 1Observing Your Surroundings: In every chapter, you'll encounter Guards, Civilians, and Targets moving in specific patterns. It is crucial to observe these patterns, especially when first playing a section, to understand NPC behavior and ensure success.
- 2Disguises and Attention: To access restricted areas and approach your Target, you'll often need a disguise, typically acquired by subduing or killing an NPC and taking their clothes. In Absolution, when wearing a disguise, be cautious of individuals dressed the same as you. Unlike previous Hitman games, guards won't automatically search for someone in a specific disguise if a body is found. You may see yellow blobs on your screen indicating attention from NPCs. Prolonged observation intensifies these blobs. To avoid attention, use cover or leave the area. When near someone in the same disguise, use Instinct to blend in. Various objects can also be used to hide and appear inconspicuous.
- 3Spotted: When an attention blob becomes a full point, you will be Spotted, and the screen will flash. If a Civilian spots you, they will alert Guards. If a Guard spots you, their reaction depends on your actions. If you are walking away, they will pursue and attempt to arrest you. You can perform a Fake Surrender, and when they get close, grab them as a hostage to use as a shield or incapacitate them. NPCs who spotted you will appear as orange on the Radar, indicating they know your appearance. To remove the orange alert, change your disguise or subdue/kill the witnesses. If you delay or are spotted subduing/killing someone, Guards may become Hostile and attack. Hostiles appear as red on the Radar. Running and hiding can cause Hostiles to lose track of you, reverting them to orange. Orange Guards remain vigilant, so avoid them carefully. You cannot create user-based checkpoints or leave a chapter while Guards are Hostile; you must evade or eliminate them first.
- 4Lost and Found: Throughout each chapter, you'll find various Objects. Picking up each unique Object at least once contributes to the 'Lost and Found' statistic, which also includes Weapons, Disguises, and Challenges. There is no specific reward for collecting every item.
- 5Distractions: Many found Objects can be used to distract and lure enemies. To throw an Object, hold down the Combat Mode button to display an arc indicating the throw's trajectory.
