All Collectibles in The Below

Discover the locations of all collectibles in The Below, including a Nornir Chest, Legendary Chest, and Lore, in God of War Ragnarök. Guide includes walkthrough steps.

The Below is an optional region in Alfheim, accessible from The Barrens. It's a key area for the favor "Secret of the Sands." To reach it, travel through The Canyon and into The Barrens. Use the Gulon-drawn sled to reach the south-center of The Barrens, where a cave leads down into The Below.

This guide details the locations of all collectibles within The Below:

1. Lore: Rune Reads - Patience

   From the entrance, follow the linear path, clear hive tendrils by severing a tendril with the Leviathan Axe, and defeat a Dark Elf. Ricochet your Leviathan Axe off a twilight stone to hit three hive tendrils simultaneously, clearing the path to a room with more Dark Elves. After defeating them, climb a wall to the north. Head east, then south, and look down a ledge to find the hive tendrils blocking access to the Lore. Line them up and cut them down to remove the hive. Drop down two ledges to find the Rune Reads - Patience.

2. Loot Lizard (Urmr)

   In the same room as the Rune Reads - Patience, on the southwestern end near the entrance. After defeating the Dark Elves and climbing the wall, look back southwest. The Loot Lizard should emerge. Strike it with the Leviathan Axe. You can aim directly or ricochet the axe off a twilight stone on the opposite wall.

3. Nornir Chest

   Advance further into The Below. After dealing with the Loot Lizard, climb a ledge and exit northwest into a cavern. Slide down a rope and follow the walkway to a chasm. Use the Blades of Chaos to cross. You'll need to open two doors and activate three rune gongs to open the Nornir Chest.

   Steps to open the Nornir Chest:

   1. Cross the chasm using the Blades of Chaos.
   2. Drop down a ledge to the southwest, kill two Wretches, and turn right (north). Use the Leviathan Axe ricocheted off a twilight stone to clear hive tendrils blocking a path.
   3. Turn around (south), drop off a ledge, kill two exploding Wretches and a Nightmare. Note the Nornir Chest nearby.
   4. Open the door to the east.
   5. Climb back up to the previous door and use the Blades of Chaos to grapple back across the chasm, taking the now-cleared path to the east.
   6. When you reach the eastern ledge, turn right (south) and drop down to open another door.

   Rune Gong Locations:

   • Rune 1: After opening the second door (from step 4), look up and right to spot this rune gong in a window. Ring this one first due to its duration.
   • Rune 2: Go to the Nornir Chest, drop down two ledges, and look northeast. This gong is in the open.
   • Rune 3: Go through the door to the east (from step 4) and look left to spot this rune gong on a ledge.

   Ring all three gongs to open the Nornir Chest.
