Learn how to capture creatures in Final Fantasy X-2. This guide covers Pods, creature sizes (S, M, L, SP), party composition limits, and strategies for effective monster collection in Spira.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
Choose the appropriate option to begin capturing monsters.
  2. 2
You will be presented with a map of Spira and its 15 regions.
  3. 3
In each area, you can set a Pod to capture monsters, which are categorized by size: Small (S), Medium (M), Large (L), and Special (SP).
  4. 4
Your party can have any combination of creatures as long as their total “size value” adds up to three. Yuna, Rikku, Paine, and Small creatures are 1s, Mediums are 2s, and Larges are 3s. This means you can have three Smalls (1+1+1=3), one Small and a Medium (1+2=3), or one Large (3=3). Note that YRP are included in this scope, limiting you to a maximum of three party members on the battlefield.
  5. 5
Special Pods can capture a variety of enemies, particularly useful for Human species enemies.
  6. 6
You can only hold a maximum of eight Pods at a time, so it is advisable to use them as you acquire them.
  7. 7
Once you have a Pod, select a region on the map and then choose the type of Pod to deploy.
  8. 8
The Pod will be placed. Press R1 to attempt to capture an enemy of the selected size type (or any type if using a Special Pod).
  9. 9
If the capture fails, Shinra will appear, indicating the Pod was wasted and no capture was possible in that area.
  10. 10
If successful, the monster will appear, and you will have the option to keep it. The Pod is consumed regardless of the outcome.
  11. 11
Monsters captured through Creature Create do not follow traditional enemy statistics; they can level up and gain stats like Yuna, Rikku, and Paine.
  12. 12
Monsters will start at a level influenced by the girls' current level, typically deviating by 1-5 levels.
  13. 13
It is generally recommended to capture lower-leveled monsters, as most non-Human creatures require leveling up five times to complete their storyline. Higher initial levels mean more experience points (EXP), which can be more time-consuming.
Tips
