Walkthrough

    Upon entering Zanarkand, head north. You will be stopped by a girl; after meeting her, go up the slope to the east, then north.

    During the ensuing conversation, choose “Of course I remember!“.

    Go down the slope and northwest into the dome.

    Inside the dome, proceed north along the path. You will have a scene with kids in the next area. Speak with the person on the left if you need to shop.

    Continue north further into the dome. Another scene will occur in the next area.

    Follow the path northward and you will see the kids. Tell him “Sure I do“ during the conversation.

    Continue along the path to find one of Leblanc’s goons. After defeating him, continue along the linear path to the intersection.

    Go east and collect the Mega Phoenix. Return to the fork and head north.

    You will have a forced fight. A Phoenix Down is visible just before it. After this fight, there will be one more before reaching the Corridor area.

    Approach the lift in the center of the area. After descending, use the Save Sphere.

    When speaking with Cid, tell him “You bet I do!“ to set up an event in Chapter 3.

    Speak with the overweight man nearby to reach the Great Hall.

    Open the six chests in the Great Hall for a Remedy, two Remedies, an Ether, an Elixir, a Hi-Potion, and a Phoenix Down.

    Go upstairs and to the next area after a scene.

    When the scene with Isaaru occurs, say “Is that you, Isaaru“ to earn the Heart Reborn Garment Grid.

    Use the downbound stairs to the north to find a dungeon. Follow the linear path, including climbing and jumping, until you reach the boss.
Tips
  • The Guardian Beast is weak to all elements except Gravity.
  • The Guardian Beast's most dangerous attack, Damocles Photon, deals damage equal to half of the character's maximum HP and is used when its HP is below 1,000.
  • Have a White Mage ready with Cure or Cura for healing, especially after Damocles Photon.
  • Use Protect and Shell spells to reduce incoming damage from Damocles Photon.
  • Apply Power Break and Armor/Mental Break to lower the boss's offensive capabilities.
  • Elemental attacks are highly effective, especially when combined with Armor Break. Black Mages with “-ra” spells are also useful.
  • An alternate strategy is to Berserk the boss using Thief's Soul Swipe or the Raging Giant Garment Grid's Berserktouch effect. This prevents the boss from using Damocles Photon.
  • Heart Reborn Garment Grid (by saying “Is that you, Isaaru“ to the character who appears to be Isaaru).
