Defeat Rikku, Paine, Baralai, Gippal, and Nooj in final fantasy x 2's Den of Woe. Learn boss strategies and drops.

BOSS - Rikku

Rikku has 7,800 HP and 92 MP. She is immune to Gravity. She drops 800 EXP, 200 GIL, and 23 AP. Common steals include Bushido Lore and common drops include Black Lore.

Rikku’s attacks include a two-hit Attack, a low-damage Grenade, and mid-level Elemental Gems, none exceeding 250-300 damage. Her high Agility can cause her to dodge attacks. It is recommended to start with the White Mage job to cast Protect before attacking. The Warrior job allows for quick use of Breaks, and Dark Knight’s Darkness skill can pierce Defense/Evasion.

BOSS - Paine

Paine has 9,200 HP and 55 MP. She is immune to Gravity. She drops 800 EXP, 200 GIL, and 3 AP. Common steals include Sword Lore and common drops include Champion Belt.

Paine’s offense is limited to her Attack. Open the fight with Protect. She is vulnerable to Breaks, with Power Break being effective. After enough Power Break, the fight becomes easier, especially if you have progressed through part of the Via Infinito.

The Berserker job is a good counter due to its high agility and HP.

BOSS - Baralai

Baralai has 12,220 HP and 720 MP. He is immune to Gravity. He drops 1,200 EXP, 200 GIL, and 5 AP. Common steals include Nature’s Lore and common drops include Crystal Ball.

Baralai is more difficult than in Chapter 2. His attacks include a single or multi-target Attack, Drill Shot (removes 75% of your max HP, used after 10 hits), Absorb (Drain+Osmose), Looming Glacier (Stop, removes MP), Glint (physical damage to multiple targets), Not-So-Mighty Guard (Protect and Shell), and Regen.

Main Strategy: Open with Mighty Guard from a Gun Mage, then switch to a White Mage for Dispel. Use Curaga for most of the battle, dispelling Mighty Guard and Regen when necessary. Devote the other two units to a physical offense that doesn’t require MP, such as Dark Knights using Darkness, as it pierces Defense. Ragnarok or Curaga can help mitigate HP penalties.

BOSS - Gippal

Gippal has 14,800 HP and 235 MP. He is immune to Gravity. He drops 1,200 EXP, 5,000 GIL, and 5 AP. Common steals include White Lore and common drops include Kaiser Knuckles.

Gippal uses physical attacks and status ailments. His attacks include Attack, Grinder (stronger), Mortar (stronger, hits all), Bullseye (removes 9/16 of your party’s current HP), Flash Bomb (approx 50 damage + Darkness), Hush Grenade (approx 50 damage + Silence), and Potion Plus (600 HP self-healing).

Main Strategy: Open with Mighty Guard to cast Protect on everyone, weakening physical attacks. Switch to a White Mage and use Curaga each turn. If not Silenced, this is manageable. Have the other two units act as Dark Knights using Darkness, which is unaffected by Darkness or Silence. Curaga will keep the party healed.

BOSS - Nooj

Nooj has 23,800 HP and 720 MP. He is immune to Gravity. He drops 1,800 EXP, 30,000 GIL, and 10 AP. Common steals include Magical Dances Vol. 1 and common drops include Arcane Lore.

Nooj uses physical and magical attacks. He can also use Lightfall (5,000 damage to all, used once at 75% HP) and Greedy Aura (removes 3/8 of everyone’s max HP/MP). His pattern is three odd shots, Greedy Aura, then repeat. If your maximum HP is under 5,000, it is highly recommended to use a Stamina Tonic and then a Megalixir to avoid being defeated by Lightfall.
