Master the Azi Dahaka boss fight in Final Fantasy X-2's Farplane Abyss (Hard Version) with our expert strategy. Learn its attacks, weaknesses, and the best way to win.

Stats / Weaknesses:

  • Max HP / Max MP: 146,200 / 869 (Oversoul: 153,510 / 869)
  • Elemental Weakness / Resistance / Immunity / Absorb: None / None / Gravity / None
  • EXP / GIL / AP: 4,850 / 1,300 / 1 (Oversoul: 5,580 / 2,000 / 2)
  • Common Steals: X-Potion (Oversoul: Talisman)
  • Rare Steals: None
  • Common Item Drops: Ether (Oversoul: Turbo Ether x3)
  • Rare Item Drops: Talisman (Oversoul: Turbo Ether x4)

Phases:

  1. Normal Form: Attacks include a standard Attack (which Drains HP), Bated Break (magical damage), and Damocles Photon (removes 50% of your maximum HP).
  2. Oversoul Form: Loses the HP Drain on Attack, but gains the ability to Curse you. It also starts focusing attacks on single characters.

Strategy:

  • The Oversoul form can be a bit easier to manage since you know it's focusing on one person at a time and the HP Drain is gone.
  • Eject: This ability *can* work, but don't rely on it as the success rate is quite low.
  • Opening Move: Start the battle with Mighty Guard to significantly reduce incoming damage and any healing Azi might get in its normal form.
  • Status Ailments: Azi Dahaka is immune to most ailments, making them ineffective.
  • Offense: Since you can't rely on status effects, focus on your preferred offensive strategy. A common effective setup is a White Mage for healing and two Dark Knights using the Darkness ability.
  • Post-Battle: After defeating Azi Dahaka, you'll face it again further north. After this second encounter, press [Square] and use the nearby Save Sphere.
  • Navigation: Jump onto the floating platform to your right. When it stops, head to the lower of the two stones to your left. Then, ascend the ledge to your left twice and move to the middle of the circle platform to face Azi Dahaka a third time. The path forward from here is mostly linear, involving walking and jumping.
