Hey there! So, you're diving into Fallout 3, huh? Awesome choice! The year is 2277, and the world as we knew it is long gone, thanks to a nuclear apocalypse. Humanity's clinging to survival, some folks holed up in massive underground shelters called Vaults, others trying to rebuild with whatever scraps they can find. You'll start off in one of these Vaults, thinking you're safe, but that all changes when your Dad up and disappears. Your only choice? Head out into the ruins of the old D.C. area, now called the Capital Wasteland. It's a dangerous place, filled with Raiders who live by preying on others, mutated Super Mutants who aren't exactly friendly, all sorts of mutated critters, rogue pre-war robots, and lingering radiation.
