Side Trips

Complete the Funereal Private Actions and Trial of Wisdom side trips in Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Collect items like Cryptograph 2 and Philosopher's Tome.

• Wind Ring acquired.
• At least seven Funereal Bouquets crafted (requires Dendrobiums).

Planet Lemuris

1. Use a Transfer Symbol to go to Triom. Enter the village and examine Ghimdo's stone on the hill to prompt Lymle's Funereal Private Action.
2. Travel to Alanaire Citadel. In the northwest round room on the first floor, find an ivy-sealed Treasure Chest. Players of the Xbox 360 version receive a Blue Talisman x1. Other players receive a Sacred Scepter x1, a weapon upgrade for Myuria.
3. If you wish to complete Lutea's Secret Stones quest, find Lutie on the third floor of Alanaire Citadel. Upon completion, Lutea gives you Lutea's Sacred Stone, a Lymle-exclusive Neck Accessory that boosts her INT/DEF/GRD stats and nullifies 15% of HP damage.
4. Leave Alanaire Citadel and head east to the frozen lake. In the narrow passage at the far northeast, examine a sparkling spot to obtain Cryptograph 2 x1, the second clue for the Trial of Wisdom.
5. Proceed through Wind Swallow Valley to the Celestial Ship. Raid the ivy-sealed chests at the north end. Collect Plastic Explosives for an En II Shop Order. Saber-Toothed Tigers may drop Wolf Oil and, if Sarah is in your party, Saber-Toothed Tiger Fangs, both needed for Shop Orders.
6. One chest in the Celestial Ship contains the Immortal Smasher, which increases Bacchus's ATK but adds Darkness element to his attacks. Another chest contains Recipe Memo 25 x1 and an Anti-Freezing Amulet x1. Recipe Memo 25 allows you to craft the Blue Talisman.
7. After viewing the Private Action and collecting items, use a Transfer Symbol to go to Planet Aeos.

Planet Aeos

1. Enter the ruins of the Exploration Base. On the west side of the south wing, a Point of Interest marker indicates the spot to start Reimi's Funereal Private Action.
2. Go through the Undersea Tunnel to the Southern Reaches. On the large western beach, a Point of Interest marker at the north end points to spaceship wreckage where you can view Arumat's Funereal Private Action.
3. From the beach, head southeast along the path toward the Save Point and Recovery Point. In the first open area after the narrow path, look on the southeast side of a large rock formation for a sparkling spot. Examine it to find Cryptograph 3 x1, the third clue for the Trial of Wisdom.
4. Return to the Exploration Base and use the Transfer Symbol to transport to Tropp on Planet Roak.

Planet Roak

1. Tropp
   • Enter Eleyna's Hideout through the entrance by the beach northeast of Tropp. Speak to Lady Eleyna to view Meracle's Funereal Private Action.
   • Go into Tropp and walk to the end of the northern dock to trigger Meracle's Final Private Action.
   • Leave Tropp and pass through the Cave to the Purgatorium to its eastern exit in the Tropp Area. In the eastern Tropp Area, head southwest from the Cave entrance. Examine the sparkling spot on the west side of a stone pillar with a square base to find the Philosopher's Tome x1, the reward for the Trial of Wisdom.
2. Purgatorium
   • Return through the Cave to the Purgatorium, heading north. On the east side of floor B1, an ivy-sealed Treasure Chest contains Recipe Memo 24 x1, which allows you to craft an Anti-Void Amulet. An Anti-Void Amulet can also be found in an ivy-barrier chest on the north side of floor B2, on the lower level.
   • Proceed to level B3 and go to the southeast corner. Use the Wind Ring on the ivy barrier sealing the door to access the east-side rooms.
   • Solve two statue puzzles. The statues indicate the order to ignite fire pots. Observe the statue's movements carefully before igniting the first pot, then light the remaining pots in the indicated sequence.
   • Solving the first statue puzzle removes wall barriers to the south and north. Collect Sylphide's Mail for Edge or Arumat from a Treasure Chest in the north wing. Collect Folklore Plate for Bacchus from a Treasure Chest in the south wing. The Sylphide's Mail is behind a Darkness Barrier; use your Light Ring to dispel it and then charge the ring at the Light.
