Navigate the treacherous Ravine of Extinction in Star Ocean: The Last Hope. Discover monster weaknesses, treasure locations, and strategies to overcome poisonous geysers and phantom enemies.
Walkthrough
- 1The enemies encountered in the Ravine of Extinction are phantom constructs of previously encountered monsters. Notable enemies include Soul Reapers (inflict status ailments), Little Phantoms (hard to see), Dark Soldiers, and Dark Panzers (stronger versions of Aeos's Phantom Soldiers with boosted stats).
- 2The Ravine is dotted with poisonous geysers that can inflict Poison status on party members, including reserves.
- 3Navigation involves dropping down to lower levels and then scaling walls using giant rising bubbles. Point of Interest markers indicate safe drop points.
- 4To ascend, stand on the spot where a giant bubble emerges from the ground and wait for it to rise.
- 5When the bubble reaches its peak, jump towards the ledge just before it bursts to land on the upper level rim.
- 6Once you drop below the Calnus's level, you cannot climb back up. To return to the Calnus, proceed to the far south end of the Ravine where a giant bubble will transport you back to the Calnus's level.
- 7A Hidden Mining Point can be found in a small alcove northeast of the first Treasure Chest.
- 8In the northern half of the Ravine, use a giant bubble to reach Chests 3 and 4. Then, drop down and use a bubble further east to access the plateau above these chests. Drop north to continue exploration.
- 9Recipe Memo 12, found in Chest 5, teaches the crafting of the Darkness Charm.
- 10After collecting items, exit north to the Pulsating Bog.
Tips
- Avoid the toxic geysers.
- Use the rising bubbles to reach higher levels.
- Jump towards the ledge when the bubble nears its peak to land on the upper rim.
- Be aware that Dark Panzers share stat enhancements with Dark Soldiers on the battlefield.
- If you need to return to the Calnus, head to the far south end for a transport bubble.
