Basically, this tool lets you carve out a path for roads right through those massive hills or mountains that would otherwise block your city's growth. It's super useful when a mountain is just too big to go around and is making a certain area totally inaccessible.

Now, there are a couple of things to keep in mind:

• Tunnels have to be built straight – no diagonal routes here!
• You can't have tunnels crossing each other, even if they're at different heights.
• And here's a big one: Sims (that's what we call the people in your city) have a limit on how far they'll travel between zones. If your tunnel is too long, they just won't use it because the trip takes too long for them. So, while it looks cool, a super-long tunnel might end up being empty real fast.

But, believe it or not, there's a neat trick to build tunnels that Sims *will* use, even across water! A player named IcthyoidMecha figured this out. Here's the lowdown:

First, you gotta build a little hill across the water where you want your tunnel. Then, build your tunnel through that artificial hill. The trick is to carefully lower the terrain *in the middle* of the tunnel. You have to be super careful not to lower it too much, or you'll destroy the little hills at the tunnel entrances. If you get it right, the tunnel will work just like a normal one, and if you peek underground, you'll see the tunnel tiles are still there, even though the terrain above looks different. Pretty wild, right? These special tunnels even work if you load your city into the Streets of SimCity game!
