Bus depots are actual buildings in SimCity 2000, unlike modular viaducts. They are 2x2 in size and must be constructed adjacent to a road, with an intersection being the ideal location. You must supply both water and electricity to the depots for them to function.

Bus depots are crucial for reducing traffic congestion and, consequently, pollution. They are the only Roads tool that actively decreases pollution. Buses are the most effective public transportation option for decreasing traffic in SimCity 2000. Bus depots have a radius of effect that diminishes with distance. Sims need to travel to the depot to board a bus, but they can disembark at any location.
