SimCity 2000 nuclear power plants generate more power with less pollution but risk catastrophic explosions that cause permanent radiation.

Nuclear power plants in SimCity 2000 generate significantly more power than coal or oil plants, even combined, and emit very little pollution. They have a moderately high unit cost, making them seem like a wise initial investment.

Warning: Nuclear plants have an undesirable tendency to explode spectacularly when overloaded. Unlike other power plant failures, a nuclear plant explosion will pepper your city with radiation, fire, and clouds of toxic gas. While fires and toxic gas dissipate, the radiation is essentially permanent and supposedly wears off after several eons.
