310 Firetruck Street: If Nemesis appears, run away and head towards the Raccoon City Hall gate. Use the SAPPHIRE and EMERALD on the clock mechanism to open the gate. Skip to section [7.3.3].

305 Fountain Street: Turn right and run down the alley. Collect two GREEN HERBS from an alcove near a fountain pool. Note a key item on a wall that cannot be taken yet. Instead of following the man, return to the door you entered and use the right-hand door at the alley's end.

308 Shopping Arcade: Navigate through this area with six scattered Zombies. Use the SHOTGUN effectively. Turn left at the crossroads and enter the door on the right-hand wall.

309 Arcade Storeroom: Pick up the RUSTED CRANK from a toolbox (becomes RUST HEX CRANK when Checked). Find a box of SHOTGUN SHELLS on a shelf. Drop the RUST HEX CRANK in the Item Box and take the SAPPHIRE. Saving is recommended.

308 Shopping Arcade: Turn right, go up stairs to the north exit, dealing with any remaining zombies.

310 Firetruck Street: From Jill's starting point, use the SAPPHIRE on the clock device near the Raccoon City Hall gate. Find a box of H.GUN BULLETS on a corpse nearby. Proceed past the firetruck, turn right, and enter the building on Jill's left.

311 Newspaper Lobby: Find PHOTO B(#10) on the pay phone. Note that File #9 might not have been found yet, so consider waiting to collect photos if order matters. Locate a FIRST AID SPRAY on a table and an INK RIBBON by searching cardboard boxes. Push a stepladder to the vending machine to reach the power box. Restore power, collect items, hit the green switch, and ascend the stairs to the second floor.

312 Newspaper 3F: Go down the hallway, turn left into the office to trigger a cutscene introducing Carlos and Nemesis. A Live Selection occurs:

• JUMP OUT OF THE WINDOW: Jill and Carlos leap into a side alley. Continue to **2-B OPTION 1**.

HIDE IN THE BACK: Jill and Carlos hide in the office. Skip to **2-B OPTION 2**.

DO NOTHING: Carlos and Jill confront Nemesis. Skip to **2-B OPTION 3**.

2-B OPTION 1: 313 Newspaper Side Alley: Jill and Carlos land in a side alley, temporarily evading Nemesis. Find two RED HERBS to the right of the exit. Unlock the door and return to the main street. Note: Choosing this option prevents receiving extra FLAME ROUNDS from Carlos later but grants access to the RED HERBS. You miss optional items like PHOTO C(#11) and REPORTER'S MEMO(#12) from 312 Newspaper 3F, and potentially two bottles of GUNPOWDER A. Returning to the office is possible but dangerous with Nemesis present.
