Follow Part 26 of our Resident Evil 3: Nemesis walkthrough, guiding you through the Downtown area, the Restaurant, and your first encounter with Carlos, including crucial choices.
Walkthrough:
- Hug the alley's wall to avoid the third dog and enter the next door.
- In the 304 Maintenance Access area, take the DOWNTOWN MAP from the left wall.
- Proceed towards the intersection where a cutscene introduces the Drain Deimos. Defeat it with the SHOTGUN or HANDGUN (aiming upwards to drop a pallet).
- Avoid the second Drain Deimos near a stairwell.
- Examine the dead mercenary's body for GUNPOWDER A.
- Proceed to the exit.
- RENDEVOUS WITH CARLOS: This is a major story divergence. Jill can meet Carlos at the Restaurant (Path A) or the Newspaper Office (Path B). Path B allows access to two extra RED HERBS. Jill's choice affects Chapter 4 scenes and future ammo availability (FLAME ROUNDS).
- PATH A: MEET CARLOS AT THE RESTAURANT
- In 305 Fountain Street, turn right and run down the alley. Collect two GREEN HERBS from an alcove near a fountain. Note a key item on a wall that cannot be taken yet.
- Chase the survivor around the corner and up the hill to the Restaurant's front entrance.
- In 306 Restaurant, search tables for two bottles of GUNPOWDER A.
- Find the CITY GUIDE(#9) on another table.
- Follow the path through the dining area and kitchen to the rear exit.
- Examine the cabinet in the right corner and use the LOCKPICK to obtain the FIRE HOOK.
- Return to the dining room and find the square hatch in the kitchen floor.
- Use the FIRE HOOK on the hatch to trigger a cutscene and meet Carlos.
- LIVE SELECTION #2-A: A decision must be made during the Nemesis encounter.
- RUN INTO THE BASEMENT: Proceed to **2-A OPTION 1**.
- HIDE INSIDE THE KITCHEN: Skip to **2-A OPTION 2**.
- DO NOTHING: Skip to **2-A OPTION 3**.
- 2-A OPTION 1: RESTAURANT BASEMENT
- Jill and Carlos escape into the basement. Nemesis ruptures plumbing, causing flooding.
- Run around the corner and use the ventilation duct at the far end to escape before the water rises too high. Failure to escape via the duct will force a return to the Restaurant, proceeding as if
