Explore Route 113 in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Discover wild Pokémon like Spinda and Skarmory, battle trainers, and learn how to use the Soot Sack for valuable items.

Your first step into Route 113 will cause ash to fall from the mountains. While you may think the ash is there for looks, it'll be nice and wonderful as soon as you get a Soot Sack to collect all of it for free items.

Wild Pokémon:

  • Spinda (Very Common)
  • Slugma (Common)
  • Skarmory (Rare)

Spinda is a Normal-type Pokémon with average stats, suitable for casual use. Skarmory is a rare Flying/Steel-type with excellent defense and no physical weaknesses, though it is vulnerable to Electric and Fire attacks.

Trainers:

  • Youngster Jaylen: Trapinch, Level 19. Money: $304
  • Pokemaniac Watt: Aron, Level 18 (x2). Money: $1080
  • Ninja Boy Lung: Koffing, Level 18; Ninjask, Level 18. Money: $216
  • Camper Lawrence: Baltoy, Level 18; Sandshrew, Level 18. Money: $288
  • Ninja Boy Lao (Match Call Trainer): Koffing, Level 17 (x3). Money: $204
  • Youngster Dillon: Aron, Level 19. Money: $304
  • Parasol Lady Madeline (Match Call Trainer): Numel, Level 19. Money: $760
  • Picnicker Sophie: Marill, Level 17; Lombre, Level 17. Money: $304
  • Bird Keeper Coby: Skarmory, Level 17; Swellow, Level 19. Money: $608

Note: Camper Lawrence or Pokemaniac Watt can engage in a double battle with Ninja Boy Lung depending on your approach.

Walkthrough
  1. 1
From the beginning of the route, head west until you reach a ledge.
  2. 2
Battle the trainer to the left of the grass patch.
  3. 3
Head north, being aware of ninja ambushes.
  4. 4
Continue west across another grass patch.
  5. 5
Head north and then west to find a house.
  6. 6
Enter the house and speak with the person in the back to receive a Soot Sack.
  7. 7
The Soot Sack is used to collect soot falling from the sky. Each step in the grass counts as 1, and you can reset the soot by leaving and re-entering the route.
  8. 8
The following items can be crafted with soot:
    • Red Flute (500 steps)
  9. 9
    Yellow Flute (500 steps)
  10. 10
    Blue Flute (250 steps)
  11. 11
    White Flute (1000 steps)
  12. 12
    Black Flute (1000 steps)
  13. 13
    Pretty Chair (6000 steps)
  14. 14
    Pretty Desk (8000 steps)
  15. 15
It is recommended to obtain the Blue Flute (wakes up sleeping Pokémon) and Yellow Flute (eliminates confusion). The Red Flute (eliminates attraction) is also useful. White Flute increases encounter rate, Black Flute decreases it. Pretty Chair and Pretty Desk are for Secret Base decoration.
  16. 16
Jump off the ledge to the left.
  17. 17
Continue west, cross the grass patch, and battle the remaining trainers.
  18. 18
    Proceed into the next town.
